About This Position

Description:

Job Title: Production Worker 2

Supervisor: Shift/Area Supervisor

Department: Plant 1

FLSA Status: Hourly

Summary: Responsible for completing production work in a timely manner with acceptable quality.

Essential Duties

  1. Maintain a clean, safe and orderly work area in compliance with OSHA requirements and Plant 1’s safety committee's regulations.
  2. Maintain production levels as governed by set norms report progress, non-progress and/or problems to the Shift/Area Supervisor.
  3. Maintain all machines and tools in designated work area in a neat and clean condition reporting any malfunctions to the Shift/Area Supervisor.
  4. Perform work according to established written procedures and complete written documentation.
  5. Report to work area promptly at the start of scheduled shift. Return from breaks and lunch periods on time.
  6. Keep supervisor advised of tools, equipment, and/or material needs in order to ensure the timely completion of scheduled production.
  7. Report and fill out all accident reports on a personal accident and submit in a timely manner to the Shift/Area Supervisor.
  8. If unable to attend work notify the supervisor within thirty minutes of the beginning of the shift.
  9. Ensure through first piece inspection with Q.C. that all jobs are set up accurately.
  10. Perform tenth piece inspections on all work performed in assigned production area of the plant.
  11. Monitor quality to insure product being run is of acceptable quality at all times, notifying Shift/Area Supervisor if quality is sub-standard.
  12. Personal productivity expectation is 65% of established norms with 100% quality.
  13. All other duties deemed necessary.
  14. Maybe required to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and if required lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  15. Additional hours if needed are mandatory.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  1. Possess ability to maintain flexible schedule to meet the demands of the department, i.e. overtime.
  2. Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing.
  3. Ability to listen to what is said and act upon it appropriately.
  4. Ability to use tact and empathy in dealing with people of varied backgrounds.
  5. Ability to establish effective working relationships.
  6. Ability to work independently or in a team environment and plan and organize workload.
  7. Some computer skills
  8. Accepts responsibility and demonstrates leadership.
  9. Is able to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  10. Trustworthy- Able to keep business confidences as required.
  11. Open minded- Willing to embrace change.

Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred. Prefer previous experience in manufacturing processes.

Math and documentation skills required.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties. Some of the tools this person may be required to use are: pneumatic nail guns (weight up to 20lb), air rachets, impact wrenches, air sanders, pneumatic screwdriver, hand routers, banding tensioners, pry bars, and hammers. As well as a variety of wood working and metal shop equipment: table saws, miter saws, gang saws, band saws, and presses. This is a small representative of tooling and equipment that may be utilized by this position.
