About This Position

Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, policies, and procedures the Respiratory Care Practitioner administers therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care procedures to patients as ordered by the patient’s health care provider and according to policy, protocols, and AARC standards. Responsibilities include managing invasive and noninvasive ventilators, obtaining arterial and capillary blood gas samples and results, evaluating patients and recommending respiratory plan. The RCP provides education and instructions to patients and families, assists with discharge planning, and performs procedures including EEG and pulmonary function studies. S/he also assists physicians with bronchoscopies and percutaneous trach insertions, and utilizes the electronic medical record to document patient care.
Education: Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program
Licensure/Certification: Licensed to practice Respiratory Care in the state of Ohio. Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) certification is also required. BLS ACLS, and NRP certifications are required.
Experience: Previous experience as a RCP is preferred.
Skills: Must demonstrate strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, the ability to multi-task, and attention to detail. Must also be able to work both independently and collaboratively with other health care providers.
