EBIT PMO Group Summary:

The Electric Boat Information Technology Project Management Office (EBIT PMO) is responsible for managing IT projects, programs, and portfolios across the Electric Boat enterprise. The EBIT PMO provides governance for project, program, and portfolio management processes and best practices, monitors performance of projects, programs, and portfolios, drives project delivery, and performs strategic planning to maximize business value.

Position Summary:

As the EBIT PMO expands in size and responsibility, the organization is looking for a highly motivated individual to join the EBIT PMO team as IT Project Manager.

Responsibilities of the IT Project Manager - IT Infrastructure include:

  • Lead projects with complex IT infrastructure initiatives, including but not limited to, datacenter moves, consolidations, upgrades, and/or hybrid/cloud transitions.
  • Create and maintain integrated, detailed project plans addressing IT infrastructure, application dependencies, vendor deliverables, risks, cutover sequencing, and rollback plans.
  • Lead cross-functional teams across infrastructure engineering (network, compute, storage), facilities, security, application owners, IT vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute cutover plans, including risk assessments, contingency planning, and post-move validation.

Additional Responsibilities of the IT Project Manager - IT Infrastructure include:

  • Scope Definition: Works with the IT Project Team to determine the project’s goals and deliverables, ensuring they meet stakeholder expectations.
  • Team Leadership: Serves as the communication hub between project team members (internal and external to EBIT) to ensure resources are aligned.
  • Project/Program/Portfolio Planning: Develops detailed project scopes, timelines, resource plans, and budgets within the IT project, program, or portfolio.
  • Project Execution & Technical Oversight: Leads project / program team resources to complete deliverables, on time and within budget. Utilizes software development and/or IT hardware (networking, server, etc.) technical knowledge and experience to manage software and hardware deployments. Works closely with IT technical staff to ensure feasibility and smooth integration of systems and/or applications.
  • Reporting: Tracks key performance metrics and regularly reports project/program/ portfolio status, risks, and milestones to various audiences.
  • Collaboration with Technical/Engineering Teams: Serves as a liaison between technical stakeholders (for projects with technical customers) and IT technical staff to ensure both groups remain aligned throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Anticipates technical challenges (task dependencies, pre-requisite steps, schedule constraints, system and partner resource availability, etc.) and develops contingency plans.


Responsibilities

  • Must be able to troubleshoot technical issues while managing project schedule and deliverables.
  • Must have a strong understanding of datacenter technologies, including compute, storage, networking, facilities, and hybrid/cloud environments.
  • Must have the ability to manage complex IT cutovers, migrations, and business continuity planning.
  • Must have strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, including executive-level reporting.
  • Must have the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, highly regulated, and continuously changing environment.
  • Must have strong problem solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive resolution.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, utilizing relevant experience.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot technical issues while managing project schedule and deliverables.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology
  • 5+ years of IT infrastructure project management experience, including leadership of datacenter moves or infrastructure transformation programs
  • Prior experience managing high-risk, high-visibility infrastructure programs with multiple dependencies and stakeholders
  • Prior experience working within a PMO and adhering to governance and delivery standards

Preferred:

  • Prior IT roles with Software Development, Cloud Computing, Data Management, Networking, or Server Administration responsibilities
