POSITION OVERVIEW
In collaboration with the New York City Department of Education and the Office of Community Schools. ACDP not-for-profit organization that provides year-round educational programs and seasonal summer camp for underserved youth. Seeking Community School Director to support DOE funded School based Program. Community School Director (CSD) acts as a, full-time on-site coordinator aligning school, youth, and community resources to improve student potential, Responsibilities include strategic leadership, managing partnerships, and operating community programs.Manage and supervising of staff; review and support development of program content; form community relations with key stakeholders. Responsible for conducting themselves in an appropriate manner, setting the example for children, parents, and co-workers. The ideal candidate for this position will have prior experience working with youth, possess academic and development planning and social emotional learning and conflict mediation. Support Daily functions in conjunction with School Administration , CBO Agency Supervisor and strengthen connections between academic learning and enrichment.
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Initiates, facilitates, and maintains programs aligning with school vision and youth development goals.
- Oversees daily school-based operations, staff supervision, and community partnerships.
- Coordinates support services (e.g., interpreters, note-takers) for students and families and Administration.
- Provides assistance, manages and acts as a liaison between students and faculty.
- Program Leadership: Initiate and maintain programs that align with the school's vision, often including after-school, sports, and wellness initiatives.
- Relationship Management: Act as a liaison between community partners, school administration, and families.
- Operational Oversight: Manage daily operations in a school,, including, sometimes, oversight of residential, advisor duties or,, specific programs.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are crucial.
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate all program staff, including group leaders, activity specialists and educational specialists and School Aides
REQUIREMENTS
- BA in education or social work, with experience in youth development or community organizing.BA Early education, human services. Masters preferred
- Strong Customer Service and liaison abilities in establishing partnerships.
- Analytical, Communications and Organizational proficiencies.
- Excellent organizational and multi-tasking abilities. Strong communication skills are verbal and written.
- Bilingual – Spanish/English a Plus
- 3-5 years Experience in youth Services or related Education field, Child Development or related credentials required,
- Knowledgeable and Affiliated with DOE practices, programs and Services.
- A minimum of 2-3 years in supervisory capacity in School or After-School setting.
- Experience in organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people.
- Leadership skills, including conflict resolution, problem solving, decision making, delegation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong project management skills, including managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines
- Cultural competency through familiarity in working with people from diverse backgrounds
- Strong understanding of a wide array of NYC social service resources for youth
- Excellent facilitation skills; experience with training/teaching high school age youth
- Outcome driven with ability to respond to changing circumstances and
- Ability to work under pressure
- Computer literate, including experience with all Microsoft Office software packages; Google Drive (Gmail, Calendar, Contacts, Docs,); local area networks; and efficient use of the Internet
- Ability to maintain State Central Registry (SCR) clearance and fingerprint clearance throughout the duration of employment.
