The base salary range for this position in as for the job description criteria as listed is $120,000 to $135,0000 annually. Our salary ranges are determined by market data based on position and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum salaries for that position. Where an individual's pay falls within the range is determined by factors including, but not limited to, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

In some cases, compensation may fall outside of this range depending on factors, including a candidate's qualification, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.

Position Overview:

The Unit Production Manager is directly responsible for managing the day-to-day operating unit priorities for our Dominguez plant.

What you will be doing:

  • Responsible for safe, reliable, and efficient/economical operation of the sulfuric acid plant and supporting unit operations within the limits of all laws, company policies, and within RAGAGEP (Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices).
  • Execute the production planning process to ensure logistics and operations teams are knowledgeable on production and shipping needs of products and availability of raw materials.
  • Coordinate and prioritize maintenance and turnaround activities on behalf of the Operations department. Work closely with maintenance personnel to manage asset care for equipment.
  • Identify and complete training requirements for departmental personnel.
  • Ensure written SOP’s and administrative procedures are accurate and kept current.
  • Actively participate in proper cost management for fixed, variable and capital expenditures.
  • Be knowledgeable of and comply with all applicable regulatory, corporate and site safety and environmental requirements.
  • Ensure the completion of the site HSES goals as applicable and monitor KPI’s accordingly. Support, enforce and improve the plant’s HSES standards and overall performance. Set and maintain HSES expectations and hold people accountable for their safety performance.
  • Directly supervise the unit production supervisor and all assigned plant engineering personnel.
  • Manages OEE (Overall Equipment Excellence) reporting. Champion plant health reporting efforts and communicate in meetings. Report status and analyze daily production limits to stakeholders.
  • Serves as Lead Operations Staff inspector during Turnarounds, including in service distribution checks, vessel inspections, generating reports and recommendations for future improvements.
  • Promote quality control in finished products and incoming raw materials. Develop working knowledge of unit operations in sulfuric acid manufacturing. Analyze trends and make continual improvement suggestions and decisions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Engineering from a four-year college or university (Chemical Engineering); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 + years of proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within the chemical, petrochemical or refining industries
  • Strong understanding of production process and quality control
  • Computer skills must include MS Office Apps, data historians and statistical software and tools.
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills, Ability to multi-task and demonstrate strong leadership and managerial skills.
  • Thorough working knowledge of maintenance and engineering practices within the chemical industry including but not limited to API standards and sizing methods & calculations, NFPA, ASME, IEEE, OSHA, DOT and Environmental regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
