Capital Railroad Contracting is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll / Human Resources Administrator to oversee payroll processing and support daily HR operations at our Columbia, MO office. This role is critical to ensuring accurate compensation, regulatory compliance, and a positive employee experience across the organization.

Key Responsibilities- Payroll Administration
Process payroll accurately and on schedule for company employees
Maintain payroll records including earnings, deductions, bonuses, and adjustments
Manage direct deposits, tax withholdings, garnishments, and benefit deductions
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
Prepare payroll reports and assist with quarterly and annual filings
Support year-end processing, including W-2 preparation
Respond to employee payroll questions in a timely and professional manner
- Human Resources Administration
Prepare and administer onboarding documentation for new hires
Maintain organized and compliant employee personnel files
Administer employee benefits and coordinate open enrollment
Ensure compliance with employment laws and internal company policies
Support performance review processes and employee engagement initiatives
Process offboarding documentation and related records
5+ years of payroll and/or human resources experience
Working knowledge of payroll systems and HR software
Familiarity with federal and state employment laws
Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency
High level of confidentiality and professionalism
Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Preferred Qualifications:
Associates or Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Accounting
Experience processing payroll for multiple employees and/or multiple entities
