Description: The Gund Company has an immediate opening at our­­­­­ Amsterdam, NY manufacturing plant for a full-time Shipping and Receiving Team Lead to join our team!

Shift: 1st

Hourly Wage: $29.00- $36.00

Plant/Work Location Address: 200 Wallins Corners Rd, Amsterdam, NY

Summary Shipping and Receiving Team Lead

The Shipping & Receiving team lead is a results-driven professional responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant movement of inbound and outbound shipments. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively multitask in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates leadership behaviors, communicates clearly across teams, and possesses working knowledge of domestic and international shipping processes.

Duties Shipping and Receiving Team Lead

  • Lead and coordinate daily shipping and receiving activities to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant movement of inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Serve as a hands-on team lead by prioritizing work, guiding team members, and supporting daily operational needs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prepare, review, and verify shipping documentation including packing lists, bills of lading, labels, and required certifications.
  • Support domestic and international shipments by coordinating with carriers and internal teams to meet delivery and customer requirements.
  • Apply basic to intermediate math skills to verify quantities, counts, weights, dimensions, and shipping information against work orders and packing slips.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies using mathematical reasoning to maintain shipping accuracy and inventory integrity.
  • Support shipments that may include hazardous materials (HAZMAT) by following established procedures, documentation, labeling, and compliance requirements.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and regulatory standards while maintaining accurate records and a clean, organized work area.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education or training in logistics, supply chain, or related fields preferred.
  • 2–3 years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or manufacturing operations.
  • Prior experience in a lead, senior, or informal team lead role preferred, including providing day to day guidance or support to team members.
  • Working knowledge of domestic shipping processes required; exposure to international shipping documentation preferred.
  • HAZMAT shipping experience or certification is a plus, along with demonstrated ability to apply basic to intermediate math skills (counts, weights, dimensions, freight calculations)
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading, packing slips, and related records
  • Experience receiving, inspecting, and verifying international shipments for accuracy and compliance
  • Working knowledge of commodity codes, international shipping requirements, and regulatory compliance
  • Hands-on experience using UPS and FedEx shipping software to process outbound shipments
  • Ability to coordinate multiple shipments simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word) for shipping documentation, reporting, and daily communication.

Environment

  • Not climate controlled and subject to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Team members are exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting.
  • Frequent exposure to fumes/dust/chemical particles, may require use of respirators or other types of PPE.
  • Employees must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
