About This Position

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician supports daily operations at Permalite and Marco Fine Arts by ensuring all coating, mixing, converting, and print-on-demand equipment operates efficiently and safely. This role combines mechanical, electrical, and process maintenance to minimize downtime and increase productivity.

Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment Maintenance & Repair
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on coating lines, mixers, rewinders, slitters, laminators, dryers, saws, and other equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical issues related to precision coating and converting equipment.
  • Maintain and calibrate temperature control systems, drive motors, tension controls, and fluid systems
  • Support the maintenance and optimization of conveyor systems, cutting tables, and packaging equipment.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis on recurring equipment failures to reduce downtime and improve reliability.
Production & Process Support
  • Work closely with production supervisors to ensure smooth operation of all production departments.
  • Support the production teams by setting up or modifying equipment to meet specific material or customer requirements.
Preventive Maintenance & Documentation
  • Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled by the Maintenance manager.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection reports, and parts inventory records.
  • Recommend improvements for safety, efficiency, and sustainability in mechanical and electrical systems.
Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA, EPA, and company safety policies.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas.
  • Support environmental and waste-handling procedures for inks, coatings, solvents, and adhesives.
Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree or technical certificate in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or a related field preferred.

Experience:

  • 3–5 years of experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment

Technical Skills:

  • Strong working knowledge of PLCs, sensors, VFDs, and control panels.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting servo systems, pneumatic valves, and process temperature control systems.
  • Proficient in use of hand and power tools, measurement devices.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking.
  • Strong communication and teamwork; comfortable collaborating with production, quality, and R&D teams.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working on ladders or in confined areas.
  • Tolerant of environments with heat, noise, and chemical odors from coatings and mixtures.
  • Willing to work flexible shifts, overtime, or on-call as needed.
Work Environment
  • Fast-paced production facility encompassing coating, mixing, converting, and print-on-demand operations.
  • Exposure to coating materials and industrial machinery.
  • Emphasis on teamwork, craftsmanship, and maintaining premium quality standards for fine art and specialty print production.
