Full-time Schedule: Monday through Thursday 6:30am-5:30pm

The Registered Nurse assists in the medical care and treatment of students in a clinic setting.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial health screenings and basic medical evaluations for all new students
  • Measure and document vital signs; perform hearing and vision screenings
  • Collect and test urine samples; administer, read, and accurately document PPD results
  • Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection in accordance with National Job Corps protocols
  • Administer medications, monitor student responses, and report any adverse reactions to the Health and Wellness Director
  • Coordinate, schedule, and follow up on on-center and community medical appointments
  • Serve as Co-Disability Coordinator, ensuring students receive appropriate medical accommodations
  • Support HEALS (Heathy Eating and Active Lifestyle) and contribute to student wellness programs
  • Participate in required staff training and ongoing professional development
  • Take part in a rotating on-call schedule
  • In the short, or on long term absence of the Health and Wellness Director, may serve as acting Health and Wellness Director.
Requirements:

Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent, active Iowa State RN license, and a minimum of one year of clinical experience. Demonstrates alignment with the organization’s core values.

Preferred: Minimum plus Job Corps or medical clinic experience.

Knowledge Required: Sound nursing techniques. Ability to relate effectively to student population. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Good organizational skills. Ability to carry out instructions without constant supervision. Must maintain CPR/First Aid certificates.
