Advisor's can be found in our Regina and Saskatoon offices and involves both in-office work and field work.
The Advisor role is a great fit for someone who is self-motivated, organized and passionate about promoting safety and the value of an organization's services; the ability to sell programs and services to meet customer's needs is essential. Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills, combined with a thirst to learn and the ability to use technology with ease will be required for success in this role.
Having an understanding of relationship-based selling techniques along with on-site safety experience, preferably in construction will be a great asset in this role.
Job Summary
This position is responsible for promoting safety education, marketing of SCSA programs and services and influencing a positive safety culture mindset with our members; for providing professional, quality safety related customer service and advice to the membership and other identified customers; and building effective relationships with Saskatchewan construction companies and other identified customers.
Responsibilities
- Help SCSA members build an effective safety culture and program by promoting and providing safety education.
- Market SCSA programs and services, with a focus to increase the utilization of these by our membership.
- Build relationships with SCSA members to understand their needs and determine how SCSA can support them through our services and offerings; this role is required to establish and build connections with new people and companies on a regular basis (sometimes referred to as "cold-calling").
- Deliver presentations and safety demonstrations, teach clients how to: develop safe practices and procedures, conduct site visits, site inspections, hazard assessments, deliver toolbox talks, safety orientations and other safety-program related information.
- When needed, provide or assist in safety training delivery, health and safety management system audits and other related work.
- Other related duties as assigned.
You will have knowledge in the following areas:
- Health and safety management systems
- Relationship-based sales techniques.
- Building construction industry, occupational health and safety legislation, and Workers’ Compensation Board policy
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, video conferencing applications).

Required Education/Certifications & Experience
- Three years of field occupational health and safety experience (two years of which in the construction industry preferably).
- Customer service and/or sales/promotion experience.
- Grade 12 and/or related industry training of a minimum one hundred (100) hours (industry trade apprenticeship) and/or journeyperson status.
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or National Health and Safety Administrator (NHSA) designation.
- Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, experience in training adults and/or conducting audits of health and safety management systems are all a bonus!
- A suitable combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
Working Conditions
- Navigation of construction sites (outdoors and indoors) including movement over uneven terrain, use of ladders, scaffolds, and stairs, standing, stooping and crawling as needed.
- Sedentary office work, performance of repetitive motions and use of general office equipment.
- Use of hand held power tools and safety demo equipment.
- Some flexibility is necessary and expected regarding the hours of work.
- Regular travel including overnight travel within the province.

Total Compensation Details:
- Starting annual salary will be between the minimum and mid-point of the range ($62,885 - $78,605)
- Health Benefits start from your first day and the monthly insurance premium is paid by SCSA (single or family coverage available).
- Upon successful completion of your 6 month probation you will receive a 2% salary increase and be eligible to participate in the contributary RRSP program.

- The Social Committee hosts several fun activities throughout the year including summer BBQ's.
Hours of Work:
Monday to Thursday: 7:45am - 4:30pm and the Friday worked is 7:45am - 4:15pm. Every other Friday off.
