About This Position
Description:
Summary/Objective:
Collaborates with the provider to determine the needs of the patient and assists the provider with providing quality medical care to the patients.
Essential Functions:
- Interviews patients and measures vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight and height.
- Collects data accurately and sees that all information is transferred to patient chart correctly.
- Prepares examination and treatment rooms for examination of patients.
- Ensures instruments are clean and sterilized.
- Hands instruments and materials to provider and assists with minor office procedures as directed by provider.
- Calls medical facilities or departments to schedule outpatient testing or procedures for admission.
- Handles pre-certification for admissions and/or procedures or coordinates with pre- certification coordinator.
- Returns patient calls and places prescription refill calls under the direction of provider of care.
- Performs EKG's, venipuncture and various in-house laboratory procedures. Acts as a phlebotomist as needed following standard procedures. Completes proper requisition for laboratory processing and charge billing.
- Recognizes abnormal results upon review of lab and test results. Interacts with provider regarding patient education and follow up regarding results.
- Assists with health education on the patient's level of understanding.
- Performs all duties in compliance with Galen clinical policies and OSHA standards.
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensures that adequate supplies are maintained at location at all times.
- Maintains clean and neat work area.
- Make recommendations for any improvements in operation of the clinical systems.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Assist other personnel in the performance of their duties as assigned and as workload permits.

- Maintain confidentiality of all patient, medical, financial, and legal information.

- Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities.
- Complete assignments efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Understands and abides by OSHA, HIPAA & CLIA standards.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Graduate of a licensed practical nurse program from a nationally accredited institution.
- Must have an active LPN license in the State of Tennessee or any other participating compact state.
Experience:
- Must have previous clinical and phlebotomy experience.
- Must be BLS trained and certified at all times.
- Ability to document in an efficient, accurate, and timely manner.
- Must be computer literate.
