Beacon Health System is hiring a full-time day Specialty Registered Nurse (RN) for our Advanced Cardiovascular Department at Beacon Medical Group in South Bend, IN.

What You’ll Do

You will report to the Practice Manager (BMG). Under general supervision, you will provide nursing care and perform nursing procedures specific to the specialty practice in support of medical care as directed by the physician. You will prepare patients for examinations, records patients' medical histories and symptoms, perform diagnostic tests, operate medical equipment, administer treatment and medications. You may assist a physician in minor surgery and with patient follow-up. You will complete laboratory duties as necessary and routinely communicate with patients and physicians in a professional and courteous manner.

Specialty Registered Nurse (RN) Job Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive clinical support, including patient assessments, vital signs, medication administration, IV therapy, specimen collection, and diagnostic testing.
• Assists physicians with examinations, specialty procedures, minor surgeries, stress testing, pacemaker management, and therapeutic treatments.
• Educates patients and students, communicates care instructions, and relays test results and recommendations.
• Maintains accurate documentation of patient records, phone calls, referrals, insurance communications, and chart audits in compliance with established guidelines.
• Coordinates patient flow, prioritizes emergencies, monitors workflow, and supports back-office staff scheduling and task completion.
• Manages clinical operations, including equipment preparation, sterilization, supply inventory, emergency cart checks, and narcotic audits.
• Ensures compliance with OSHA standards, universal precautions, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
• Maintains required licensure, certifications (including BCLS/CPR), continuing education, employee health requirements, and participates in department meetings.
• Communicates clearly and remains flexible to meet operational and scheduling needs, including overtime when required.

Required Qualifications

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a nursing program from an accredited school of nursing.
  • A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Indiana is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience is required.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required and must be maintained.
  • Certification in CPR is required and must be maintained.

What You Bring

As a Specialty Registered Nurse (RN), this requires comprehensive knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice, along with demonstrated competency in performing nursing care procedures, observations, treatments, and clinical techniques. It involves advanced analytical skills to assess patient conditions, interpret data, address patient-related problems, deliver care throughout the treatment process, and recognize medication reactions such as anaphylaxis or other adverse effects. The role includes proficiency in conscious sedation and advanced knowledge of peripheral IV access, including cannulation, monitoring, and IV initiation. The nurse must respond quickly and compassionately in emergency situations while maintaining clear verbal and written communication with a wide range of internal and external contacts. Strong interpersonal skills are essential to effectively interact with patients, physicians, and visitors and to build positive working relationships. The position also requires organizational and computer skills for accurate documentation and record-keeping, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to achieving BMG’s goals.
