Director of Golf and Skier Services

SUMMARY

The Director of Golf and Skier Services will oversee the management of all golf course, golf shop, and ski shop operations. The Director of Golf and Skier Services will operate at both a tactical and strategic level managing and continuously develop all aspects of the golf operations in summer and skier operations in winter. Responsible for the overall golf experience, creating a vibrant tournament and social calendar, as well as a well-received golf instruction program. Will ensure a consistently high level of member satisfaction and pride in the Golf Club experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS includes although is not limited to:

  • Ultimately responsible for the performance of the golf shop operations, golf services, skier services, and summer/winter retail sales.
  • Administer the tee sheet reservation process in a manner that protects member access while maximizing opportunities for guest access.
  • Create, implement, report, and analyze the golf operations plan and annual budget.
  • Responsible for the fiscal performance of the golf operations including planning, budgeting, forecasting, monitoring, and corrective management.
  • Oversee all operational policies, procedures, controls, and fee structures to ensure the safekeeping of assets, inventory, and resources.
  • Orchestrate continuous staff training programs to ensure golf experience is “best in class” for personalized, gracious, and with a professional decorum that is not overly casual or informal.
  • Provide a learning platform for the continued development of golf operations.
  • Conduct regular associate meetings with golf professionals, managers, and associates.
  • Support the golf operations team to ensure golf professionals and staff are able to have a high level of member and guest engagement.
  • Actively be present at all major golf events and functions.
  • Participate in Golf advisory meetings as well as established tournament committees.
  • Weekly review or golf course conditions with grounds superintendent, assist in addressing seasonal or other organic concerns in a proactive manner.
  • Oversees all operational policies as well as actively supporting the rules and regulations of the Spanish Peaks Mountain Club Golf plan.
  • Frontline enforcement of established policies to ensure a consistent and fair application. Artfully manage the member rules and regulations administration to ensure a harmonious and supportive membership culture.
  • Participate in periodic club membership plan review to enhance the golf experience and club financial health.
  • Provide timely communication updates to the Member Services and Marketing team to ensure membership is well informed of initiatives, events, and tournament calendar.
  • Works closely with Golf Grounds Operations Maintenance team, as needed.
  • Manages and supports the winter operations of the skier services team, the ski shop, and the member satisfaction with skier services.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • P.G.A. member for at least 5 years
  • Total of at least 8 years of experience in the golf industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Management, and/or Golf Management preferred
  • Strong management experience with high-end club or resort environment required
  • Strong understanding of golf club membership administration and Club Plan documents
  • Highly ethical
  • Extremely versatile leader
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fluency in English.
  • Excellent analytical ability, knowledge in research methods and basic statistics to analyze data, formulate conclusions, and action steps from results.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach different outlets and other departments of the Club and Course on a timely basis. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. on a regular basis and up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
