About This Position

HMCB Director, Lab

JOB SUMMARY

Assures the continuous, effective operation and the continuous improvement of the activities of Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood Laboratory. Assures integration of departmental services with the overall function of the hospital in order to meet established organizational goals.

  • Responsible for the operation of all laboratory departments including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, histology, phlebotomy, transfusion services, regional blood center, and lab outreach.
  • Responsible for inspections of all areas under the lab umbrella, which include CAP, AABB, FDA, and Joint Commission. Maintain all standards required by regulation by monitoring compliance in all areas of the lab.
  • Lead large project initiatives to completion. Delegation of smaller projects as needed in the areas.
  • Manage personnel issues as well as guide section supervisors in handling employee issues.
  • Serve on hospital committees including Quality Council, Performance Improvement, Patient Safety Committee, Transfusion Committee, Trauma Services Committee.
  • Monitor and grow the lab outreach department, continually looking for new clients and areas to serve.
  • Mentor lab supervisors regarding employee relationships, work environment and engagement.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Minimum Work Experience

  • 1 Year previous management experience

Required Licenses/Certifications

  • Completion of formal training program in a approved MT, MLS, or MLT program
  • Registered as a MT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP),or MLT (ASCP) or equivalent
