About This Position

The role of the Camp Manager is to lead the preparation of Camp Joyful Soles in the off season and, in season the daily activities of the camp. The Manager’s ultimate goal is to maintain the integrity of the ideal camp environment, one that is safe, supportive, and fun for all campers & staff. The Manager’s chief responsibilities that help achieve this goal are: the creation of the camp plan in the off season, the recruitment, hiring, training & evaluation of staff members and the planning out of each day’s schedule including creating and implementing strategies to help each child be as successful as possible.

The Manager position will act in two capacities: 1. Conduct all preparation leading to the start of camp and 2. The supervision of the day-to-day activity of Camp Joyful Soles.

This position will be part time from January to June. When Camp Joyful Soles begins, the position moves to full-time till the conclusion of camp. The Camp Joyful Soles Manager reports to the Parks & Recreation Program Supervisor.
  • Coordination and scheduling of all camp visitors and field trips
  • Serve as the main point of contact for all parent interaction
  • Manage the finances of Camp Joyful Soles
  • Collection of weekly registration fees
  • Participating with the hiring of camp staff and volunteers
  • Participating with the acceptance of campers
  • Maintain all camp documents including daily attendance sheets, time sheets, weekly calendars, accident reports, staff evaluations, and status reports
  • Handling all public relations when visited by special guests or going to the pool
  • Conducting staff meetings
  • Enforcing camp schedule and protocol
  • Handling any significant camper behavior problems
  • Communicating with parents frequently about their child’s success at camp
  • Designing and teaching staff new activities to implement with the campers

  • College diploma with a specialty in Special Education with 2 years’ experience working in a school/camp setting or any equivalent combination of education & experience to meet the above stated responsibilities
  • Experience working with individuals with special needs/mild disabilities
  • Education or training to work with people with special needs/mild disabilities preferred
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred
