About This Position
Job Overview:
The Administrative Assistant is responsible for managing patient visits within the clinic. Duties include greeting patients, coworkers, providers and vendors. Will assist in the cardiovascular clinic with cardiac surgery, structural heart, advanced heart failure and other aspects of cardiovascular service line patients.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- One (1) Year of Healthcare Experience
- Successful completion of all orientation programs
Preferred:
- Experience with Epic
Scheduling Requirements:
- Shift Working: 9:00am-5:00pm
- Day Shift
- Full Time, 37.5 Hours Per Week
Essential Functions:
- Will ensure a positive attitude when answering phones, scheduling patients for appointments and testing. Will greet patients and family members. Assist patients and family with forms, collection of insurance cards and picture ID to scan into EMR
- Will assist patients and staff with inquires related to clinics and other aspects of patient care
- Will lead and escort patients to examine rooms, take patients to other appointments in the hospital and help with other patient care in the cardiac clinic
- Will call to confirm appointments and patient demographic and insurance. Review and track clinical inventory and supplies as needed.
- Assisting with patient care by turning over the room as needed, be a resource for the clinical team.
- Will ensure medical equipment is checked, maintained to meet regulatory responsibilities and ensure adequate clinical supplies in each room
- Administrative responsibilities such as: preparing patients for necessary tests, scheduling of test/procedures, preop testing, and assisting with authorization if required
- Will triage telephone calls and take messages clearly and communicate with the appropriate team members.
- Will prepare and send physician notes, results and other tests as directed by the clinical team
- Assist team members with filing, organization of the department, ordering of office supplies.
- Assist with Advance Heart Failure clinic scheduling, confirming appointments, obtaining authorization as needed, and scheduling of patient care testing.
