The Urban League of Rochester is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering African Americans and other underserved individuals to achieve economic self-reliance, parity, power, and civil rights. We operate several residential and community-based properties across the city that require consistent care and responsive maintenance.
Position Summary:
We’re looking for a dependable, skilled Maintenance Technician to support general upkeep and repairs across multiple Urban League sites. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, has experience in general maintenance, and is committed to creating safe, functional spaces for residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance: plumbing, painting, HVAC, minor electrical and carpentry.
- Complete work orders and maintenance requests promptly and professionally.
- Conduct property inspections and report any safety or structural issues.
- Maintain grounds and outdoor areas (trash removal, snow shoveling, landscaping).
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors, when necessary, under the Site Manager’s supervision.
- Track materials used and keep maintenance logs.
- Respond to emergency maintenance calls, including after-hours when needed.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of property maintenance or building operations experience.
- Solid understanding of general repair practices.
- Able to work independently and travel to multiple locations.
- Strong communication, time management, and customer service skills.
- Must have a valid NYS driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- High school diploma or GED required.
