About This Position
About the Role:
The Accounting Analyst plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial integrity of our organization by analyzing financial data and preparing comprehensive reports. This position is responsible for identifying variances in financial statements and providing insights that drive strategic decision-making. The analyst will also be involved in account reconciliations, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are promptly addressed. Additionally, the role requires collaboration with various departments to facilitate wire transfers and manage foreign currency transactions. Ultimately, the Accounting Analyst contributes to the overall financial health of the organization by delivering accurate and timely financial information.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field, or a high school diploma with equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in financial analysis and reporting.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with financial software and tools, particularly in banking or credit intermediation.
- Responsibilities:
- Daily accounts payable tasks including invoice entry, expense allocation, payment processing and vendor maintenance;
- Daily monitoring and movement of funds among correspondent banks;
- Post entries to support department activities and expense allocation;
- Preparation and/or distribution of reports to team members as needed;
- Ongoing facilitation of internal and third-party bank supply inventories;
- Reconcilements of various general ledger and internal DDA accounts;
- Support the vendor management program through organization, tracking, recordkeeping, ratings and analysis;
- Prepare and create reports, perform research, and/or data analysis to support financial analysis, bank strategic goals and other departments’ reporting requests;
- Utilize technology including Microsoft Teams and Excel to enhance accuracy in reporting and effectively organize and communicate with employees;
- Document procedures to ensure continuity and make recommendations for process improvements;
- Contribute to bank wide promotions, goals, and strategic directives.
- Ensure procedural manual is kept current.
- Make recommendations to supervisor about possible methods to improve the department.
- Participate in community affairs to increase the bank’s visibility and to enhance new business opportunities.
- Assume additional responsibilities as directed.
- Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies in financial reports and provide actionable insights.
- Prepare and maintain balance sheets, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Perform account reconciliations on a regular basis to ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements for internal and external stakeholders.
- Skills:
Must be able to navigate online accounts payable system, navigate Microsoft 365 products including Excel, Word, and Teams, demonstrate analytical skills, good communication skills, ability to meet deadlines and be detail oriented. The required skills such as variance analysis and account reconciliation are essential for identifying financial discrepancies and ensuring accurate reporting. Proficiency in pivot tables allows the analyst to manipulate and analyze large datasets efficiently, enhancing the quality of financial insights. Skills in preparing financial reports and statements are utilized daily to communicate financial performance to stakeholders. Knowledge of wire transfers and foreign currency management is critical for executing transactions accurately and in compliance with regulations. Overall, these skills enable the Accounting Analyst to contribute effectively to the financial operations of the organization.
