Position Summary:

The Estimator - Audiovisual (AV) plays a key role in shaping innovative audiovisual (AV), IT, and electrical solutions from the ground up. This position is ideal for professionals who combine technical expertise with precision, creativity, and a strong understanding of the construction industry.

The Estimator - Audiovisual (AV) develops detailed and competitive bids, analyzes client needs, and supports project planning through every phase—from concept and design to execution, commissioning, and closeout. This role ensures each project is accurately scoped, costed, and strategically positioned for success.

Requirements
  • Associate degree in technology or equivalent experience required; Bachelor’s in Engineering preferred.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in field installation, project management, or estimating within the AV/IT or data fields preferred.
  • Must obtain AVIXA CTS certification within one year of hire.
    • AVIXA CTS-I, CTS-D, or BICSI RCDD certifications preferred.
    • Must obtain CompTIA ITF+ certification within one year of hire.
  • Familiarity with current AV, IT, and Electrical products, standards, and codes (IBC, NEC).
  • Understanding of facility design principles and structured cabling systems.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency (Windows, Apple OS).
  • Strong multitasking, organization, and project documentation abilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple bids and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to interpret and create instructions, drawings, and schedules.
  • Some weekend or varied hours may be required based on project needs.
  • Must observe strict safety protocols in environments with power tools, electricity, and construction hazards.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate bid reviews, take-offs, and submittal preparation for competitive bid projects.
  • Review and approve estimates in collaboration with management prior to submission.
  • Develop and deliver system quotes for Design/Build projects based on client requirements.
  • Analyze blueprints, plans, and specifications to prepare detailed cost estimates.
  • Define project scope, schedule, labor, and costs in collaboration with the project team.
  • Conduct site surveys and attend project walks to gather necessary field data.
  • Support project managers with logistics, system deployment, and remote installation guidance.
  • Partner with design teams to develop system drawings, including floor plans, elevations, AV/IT electrical layouts, and functional diagrams.
  • Assist with control system submittals, documentation, and archiving of project records.
  • Evaluate manufacturer products to confirm compliance with design standards and expected performance.
  • Support the development and maintenance of internal engineering quality standards.
  • Mentor team members and promote continued professional development across the department.
  • Maintain a 75% billable/chargeable workload through design, project management, and technical activities.
  • Attend required safety meetings, training sessions, and maintain current certifications.
  • Always follow OSHA and company safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment.
