TITLE: Mechanical Analysis Engineer LOCATION: Luxembourg
ABOUT THE ROLEAs a Mechanical / Structural Analysis Engineer at ispace, you will lead and perform the structural analysis and verification of space hardware. You will be responsible for ensuring that mechanical structures meet stiffness, strength, stability, and dynamic requirements across all mission phases, from launch through lunar surface operations.This role requires a strong analytical background, with demonstrated experience in static and dynamic analysis, including modal, random vibration, shock, and coupled loads analysis (CLA). You will work closely with structural design, AIT, and systems teams to ensure designs are analytically sound, testable, and compliant with space mission standards.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and perform structural analysis and verification of spacecraft structures and mechanisms.
  • Develop and maintain high-fidelity Finite Element Models (FEM) using FEMAP, supporting: Static strength and stiffness analysis, Modal analysis, Dynamic response (sine, random vibration, shock), Coupled Loads Analysis (CLA) in coordination with systems and loads engineers
  • Define structural load cases based on launch vehicle environments and operational scenarios.
  • Perform hand calculations to support FEM results and justify analytical assumptions.
  • Interpret, post-process, and clearly communicate analysis results to design and project stakeholders.
  • Correlate analytical models with mechanical test data.
  • Actively support structural design activities, including Trade studies, Material selection, Thickness optimization, Manufacturability and integration constraints.
  • Support AIT and environmental test campaigns, including test definition and instrumentation support.
  • Prepare and maintain structural verification documentation, including analysis reports, margins of safety, test correlation reports, and verification matrices.
  • Participate in design reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR), providing structural risk assessment and recommendations.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior analysts when applicable.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Structural, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 5-10 years of experience in mechanical or structural analysis; candidates closer to senior level should demonstrate ownership of analyses and design influence.
  • Strong proficiency with FEMAP for finite element modeling and structural analysis.
  • Solid experience with dynamic analysis, including modal, sine, random, and shock.
  • Familiarity with or direct experience in Coupled Loads Analysis (CLA).
  • Good understanding of spacecraft structural verification philosophy, including analysistest correlation.
  • Familiarity with space-grade materials, including aluminum alloys, titanium, composites, and honeycomb sandwich structures.
  • Hands-on exposure to mechanical testing and test correlation activities.
  • Working knowledge of ECSS structural standards and their application.
  • Ability to produce clear, rigorous technical documentation in English.
  • Sound engineering judgment, able to balance model fidelity, schedule, and design maturity.
  • Familiarity with CAD data usage, drawing standards, and configuration control.
