This role supports all aspects of building operations—from preventive maintenance to emergency response—and plays a key role in maintaining a safe, reliable, and professional environment for tenants and City staff.

Reporting to the Chief or Assistant Chief Building Engineer, you’ll work closely with a collaborative team to protect and enhance the value of the property while delivering exceptional customer service.

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, including inspections, filter changes, belt adjustments, lighting repairs, and equipment servicing.

  • Respond to tenant service requests with professionalism, urgency, and a customer-first mindset.

  • Troubleshoot building systems and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce operating costs.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and equipment logs (manual or computerized).

  • Assist with inventory management and ordering parts and supplies.

  • Support emergency response efforts, including alarms, outages, and urgent repair situations.

  • Oversee vendor and contractor work, including elevator maintenance, fire alarm testing, sprinkler shutdowns, and tenant improvement projects.

  • Inspect construction areas and new installations to ensure compliance with building codes, safety standards, and regulations.

  • Maintain and operate life-safety and fire systems, coordinating required testing and inspections.

  • Perform minor carpentry, door and hardware repairs, snow removal, painting, and general building upkeep.

  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify safety hazards or maintenance needs.

  • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively, following OSHA and company safety guidelines at all times.

What We’re Looking For:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Experience level determines placement:

    • Technician Level 1: Minimum 3 years of building maintenance or trade experience (HVAC, plumbing, or electrical).

    • Technician Level 2: Minimum 5 years of trade experience; HVAC, electrical, or plumbing certification/license preferred.

  • Technical school training in HVAC or electrical is a plus.

  • Experience with automated building management systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints and schematics.

  • Strong communication skills, a team-oriented mindset, and solid problem-solving ability.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

  • Willingness to work extended hours or respond during emergencies when needed.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders and stairs, and perform physical work safely.

  • Valid driver’s license required; some off-site work may be necessary.

  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) designation is a plus.

Why Join Us:

  • Competitive pay based on experience and certifications

  • Opportunity to grow and advance within facilities operations
