About This Position
The YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester is?seeking?an enthusiastic, organized, and compassionate?Summer Camp Program Director?to lead?Camp?Funkist, our dynamic summer day camp program. This role is ideal for a strong leader who loves working with children, supporting staff, and creating a fun, safe, and inclusive environment. The Camp Director plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality programming while?maintaining?full compliance with?the?New?York State Department of Health (DOH) regulations.?
Key Responsibilities:
Camp Operations & Leadership
- Oversee the daily operations of Camp?Funkist?to ensure a safe, engaging, and well-run program.
- Implement camp schedules, activities, and?special events.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and energetic camp culture.
Staff Supervision
- Supervise and evaluate camp staff.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and ongoing support to counselors and activity staff.
- Ensure proper staff-to-camper ratios are?maintained?at all times.
Health, Safety & DOH Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with all New York State Department of Health (DOH) regulations for day camps.
- Maintain required records such as attendance, incident reports, health logs, and emergency procedures.
- Conduct daily health and safety checks of staff, campers, and facilities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact during DOH inspections.
Camper & Family Support
- Promote a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for all campers.
- Communicate with families?regarding?questions, concerns, or incidents.
- Support campers’ social-emotional development and positive behavior.
Administrative & Program Support
- Keep?accurate?records of?attendance, incidents, and staff documentation.
- Communicate regularly with the Assistant Director of Youth Programming.
- Support?special events, marketing efforts, and reporting as needed.

Requirements:Qualifications:
- Experience working with children in a camp, school, or youth program setting
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred?
- Knowledge of (or ability to learn) NYS DOH day camp regulations?
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills?
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment?
- Passion for youth development and the mission of the YWCA?
Compensation: $25.00 hourly
