About This Position
The Elementary School Assistant Principal position supports the principal in the overall administration of the school, interpreting and enforcing school policies and regulations, and explaining and interpreting division-wide curriculums/instructional goals and objectives to teachers, parents, students, and the community.
This role is classified as administrative and is an exempt, full-time position. The position reports to the Elementary School Principal and is responsible for assisting in the leadership, administration, and coordination of the Elementary School.
The salary range for this full-time position during the 2026-27 academic year is set at $95,000 to $145,000. Compensation is contingent upon the individual's relevant work experience.
Pastoral Responsibilities
- Oversee the Student Service Team, enhancing policies and procedures when appropriate, and ensuring teachers and Student Service Team members are collaborating effectively to support students, working with students when needed in small groups or 1-1
- Assist in maintaining discipline throughout the student body; identify the special needs of students on a regular basis; seek the assistance of school specialists as required; and maintain regular communication with the Student Support Team on all student cases.
- Communicate and work closely with the Dean of Students to oversee student life
- Oversee Social Emotional Learning (SEL); support teachers in SEL curriculum and teaching, modeling strategies and lessons when appropriate.
Academic Responsibilities
- Model and support the implementation of the school’s vision and goals
- Support the principal in the overall administration of the school, interpret and enforce school policies and regulations, as well as explain and interpret division-wide curriculums/instructional goals and objectives to teachers, parents, students, and the community
- Assist the principal in developing and maintaining the educational program consistent with the school's vision and mission
- Serve on the Elementary Leadership Team, working closely with the Elementary Principal and Academic Language Deans and Coordinators to advance the academic program
Operational Responsibilities
- Assist the principal in planning and implementing a professional development/growth program for teachers and staff
- Assist the principal in serving parents, faculty, and student groups, as requested, in advancing educational activities and objectives
- Supervise teachers and departments as assigned by the principal
- With guidance from the Principal, leads the planning and goal setting for the grades/departments that he/she coaches and ensures alignment with school-wide goals
- Collaborate with School Leadership on hiring diverse, highly-effective teachers and school staff
- Manages parts of the daily school operations (e.g., arrival/dismissal, lunch/recess, school trips)
- Serve as principal in the absence of the principal
- Acts as the first Leadership Team contact for student intervention and parent engagement; determines next steps for issues that are above the teacher/grade level/department chair
Position Qualifications/Skills
- Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university, training in administration, supervision, and curriculum development at the Elementary School level useful, but not essential
- Five years of successful teaching at the Elementary School level
- An administrative leadership style based on effective human relations and a capacity to work effectively in a multicultural environment, with an understanding and appreciation for diversity
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Chinese, French, or German speakers are especially encouraged to apply

- Be able to physically control and/or restrain a young child solely for the purpose of avoiding dangerous situations for the child and/or others.
- Use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects
- Read, see details of objects that are more than a few feet away, and see differences between colors
Compensation and Benefits
Our compensation is based on education and years of experience. The salary range for this full-time fiscal position for the 2026-27 school year is $95,000 to $145,000.
This position is categorized as an administrative staff member; we are therefore pleased to offer the following comprehensive benefits package, which includes the following:

- Accrue six weeks of paid time off [9.85 hours per paid period]
- Two weeks of holiday pay in December [which will include Christmas and New Year’s, per the school calendar]
- Paid sick leave – eighty (80)-hours equivalent or ten (10) calendar days per fiscal year
- Eight School holidays- per the school year calendar
