About This Position

Description:

As a Robot Welding Lead, you’ll guide and support the workforce in all welding operations. This position will be involved in maintaining the relevancy of current processes, be involved in developing new processes that will ensure consistency throughout the area, and is responsible to ensure that all processes are followed. The person in this position will attend required meetings, communicate with other leads and work with management to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements:

What You’ll Do:

  • Operate MIG welder to weld various component parts and sub-weldments
  • Monitor the fit up and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts that cause warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
  • Utilize hand tools, fixtures, and clamps for small welding applications
  • Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions, standing for long periods.
  • Attend daily scheduling meeting to be involved in setting the production schedule.
  • Guide team members through daily tasks, making real-time adjustments to ensure schedule attainment.
  • Train, coach, and motivate welders and support staff to build skills and improve performance.
  • Monitor inventory and supply items; work with other leads and management to handle exceptions.
  • Oversee quality control by making real-time adjustments to ensure products meet required specifications, and reject any that do not.
  • Work on prototype attachments and special projects.
  • Oversee daily and weekly maintenance on equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Set the standard for cleanliness and safety by leading through example and maintaining a clean, well-organized work area.
  • Working with our Manufacturing Engineers and taking charge of programming new attachments and updating old programs in the robots.
  • Ensure all safety policies are followed, wear personal protective equipment and hold a high regard for the safety of others.
  • Responsible to inform management of any exceptions that arise.
  • Participate in proper ergonomic practices as designed for this position.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement, both personally and for the organization.
  • Assist in other areas as needed, other duties as assigned.
  • Work overtime as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; basic math skills required.
  • Minimum 1-year experience in welding and/or equivalent field or completion of trade school course required.
  • Prior forklift and hoist experience required.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to operate pneumatic and hand tools such as sanders, grinders, and cutting torches.
  • Solid understanding of wire feed techniques for mild steel and knowledge of welding-related production processes, materials, and components.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to read tape measure to perform accurate measurements per specific print and drawing tolerances.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to actively listen, clearly express ideas, and collaborate across teams respectfully.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Basic math skills and strong problem-solving abilities with a goal-oriented mindset and an eye for details.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, coach, and motivate team members; capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching required throughout the shift.
  • Regular exposure to repetitive motions involving hands, wrists, arms, and shoulders.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods on concrete floors.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, helmet, ear plugs, and safety glasses.

Wage:

$25.50-$27.50
