As a AREA SALES MANAGER, you will be responsible for safely managing and coordinating product sales through assigned employees and staff. Professional appearance, excellent time management, and outstanding customer service skills required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Manage sales goals and KPI achievement through assigned employees and for a specified area; monitor forecasts and variances to goals and initiate action to ensure success.

2. This is a field-based role requiring consistent presence in customer accounts throughout the day during designated standard business hours to work alongside direct reports to provide real-time coaching, identify growth opportunities, to model best practices, and to ensure customer satisfaction.

3. Ensure execution of sales programs, promotions, placements, and strategies as directed.

4. Responsible for recruitment, selection, training, management, and development of team members. Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, SOPs, and laws.

5. Coach assigned employees on ABC compliance, safety, pricing, program execution, POS, product rotation, and effective merchandising. Monitor team performance against standards and provide regular feedback.

6. Regularly work with assigned employees on sales process and diagnostic sales approach to provide value to the retailer. Make recommendations to retailers regarding displays, programs, and advertising.

7. Resolve customer complaints regarding services, products, or sales staff. Partner with other managers to resolve conflicts or concerns and investigate root cause.

8. Positively communicate information and change to staff.

9. Ensure safe working environment. Follow preventive maintenance procedures.

10. Provide sales reports, trends, or customer information DSM as needed. Recommend improvements, changes, or best practices.

11. Participate in sales meetings and training.

12. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

2. Possess education equivalent to Associate’s degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or technical school plus 1-3 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

3. Possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.

4. Possess the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

5. Possess the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

6. Possess the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Possess the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

7. Possess ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Possess the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

8. Possess computer skills requiring knowledge of word processing software, e-mail software, spreadsheet software, and Internet.

9. Possess the ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance to support and reinforce sales operations, safe work practices, and service customer accounts.

10. Possess ability to obtain and maintain an active beer and wine sales license.

11. Possess ability to drive, valid driver’s license, and a driving record compliant with company standards.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises up to 6 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include traditional manager responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. This position may require you to take calls and respond to emails or texts before and after designated standard business hours for urgent business issues.

Employee must regularly/constantly walk/stand, lift/carry and reach knee to shoulder up to 46 pounds.

Employees must frequently lift one-handed, push/pull up to 90 pounds of force, reach below knee to handle materials up to 46 pounds, reach above shoulder up to 20 pounds, handle/grasp, talk, hear, and see. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, eye-hand coordination, acuity, and ability to adjust focus.

Occasionally (<34% of workday)

Employees must occasionally sit, climb, balance, twist of trunk, finger/pinch and see in color.
