Electric Boat Navy Facility Engineering & Training Technologies (Department 701) is an innovative architectural/engineering and project management group specializing in design, site preparation, installation and maintenance of Naval Facilities and Trainers around the world, homebased at Naval Submarine Base New London.
Electric Boat Navy Facility Engineering and Training Technologies (Department 701) is seeking an experienced candidate to oversee facility construction and trainer installation projects located at multiple Naval bases around the country.
Role Overview
Electric Boat Navy Facility Engineering and Training Technologies (Department 701) is seeking an experienced candidate to oversee facility construction and trainer installation projects located at multiple Naval bases around the country. The successful candidate will serve as the project manager for Electric Boat and its government customers. The candidate must be capable of handling multiple tasks for concurrent projects while managing and maintaining priorities and schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Those tasks include working with design to develop the most effective layouts; working with finance to make the most efficient use of available funding; establishing and maintaining overall project budgets and financial status reports; developing project and program schedules; preparing informal and formal project proposals, general correspondence, engineering reports and facility and trainer conceptual sketches.
The position will include chairing or participating in periodic teleconferences and developing meeting minutes. The work will require close interface with senior levels management of multiple government agencies.The candidate must encompass highly developed leadership and decision-making skills under restrictive deadlines. Extensive communication with architects, government officials regarding new projects, governing codes, invoices, and meetings. In addition to interface with senior level management at UWSTR, Submarine Learning Center (SLC), PMS 339 and host training commands.
Travel to multiple sites around the country will be required - up to 50%
Responsibilities
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to understand Navy Training systems or simulators to operate in the commercial environment.
- Ability and experience to effectively use Microsoft programs including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and BlueBeam.
- Ability to effectively read facility construction drawings.
- Ability to motivate and lead multi-disciplinary project management, design, and construction teams.
- Strong negotiation, reporting, and schedule management skills.

Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of relevant experience, including on-site construction management overseeing multiple contractors and projects, or related construction management functions.
- Knowledge of commercial mechanical, structural, electrical and ventilation systems, with practical knowledge of the construction processes used in these areas.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret security clearance.
- Travel is required - up to 50%
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction/Project Management, Building Science, or related fields.
- Prior Navy service
- Previous Navy training or simulators experience
- Experience interfacing with Naval Facilities (NAVFAC)
- Experience utilizing AutoCAD or similar drafting programs
- Experience developing estimates for commercial construction projects
- Experience interpreting and utilizing applicable government regulations and instructions
- Familiarity with commercial building codes
