Maintenance and Grounds Staff at Shack Retreat and Conference Center LLC – White Cloud, Michigan

Grace Adventures Ministries is a religious organization that makes employment decisions on Bible based beliefs and practices. The Shack Christian Retreat and Conference Center is a campus ministry of Grace Adventures Ministries.

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Fulfill the overall ministry of The Shack Retreat and Conference Center and cast a vision to others. This position will be part of the maintenance and grounds teams that demonstrate world class excellence through their care of the sites, facilities, and grounds of the ministry. This includes helping maintain: buildings, grounds, vehicle and equipment maintenance, snow removal, boats, roads and parking lots, septic and wells, and work requests.

ASSUMPTIONS:

3. Sites and facilities are clean, safe and in proper repair; working with all staff to provide a safe environment
4. This position will be solution-focused and provide timely feedback for those we serve

6. This individual will be able to maximize their time for efficiency
7. Available to work variable shifts as needed to meet the needs of the organization

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. The maintenance complex is in a clean, safe and functional manner at all times.
2. Acquisition and disbursement of maintenance inventory
3. Preventative care and repair of Shack vehicles, Tractors, mowers & other motorized equipment
4. Assist in boat maintenance/winterization
5. Assist in upkeep of roads and parking lots on properties
6. Participate in monthly Inspections of the grounds and facilities; determine needs for repairs or renovations
7. Assistant in meeting Federal, State, and local guidelines for all current and future buildings and staying current with those guidelines
8. Carry out work request repairs as part of daily maintenance
9. Assist the Sites & facilities Manager in all approved projects
10. Maintain and carry cell phone communication during working hours and when on call
11. Maintain neat and professional appearance
12. Be a full participant of the Shack leadership team in fulfilling the ministry plan
13. All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A testimony and lifestyle that gives evidence of a true experience of salvation by grace in Jesus Christ
2. An attitude of excellence in workmanship
3. At least 2 years’ experience in a related field
4. Experience/qualifications/certificates in some or all of the following: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, irrigation, grounds, engine repair (mechanic), carpentry
5. A caring and supportive attitude to the needs of staff, guests and goals of the organization
6. A desire to learn and develop new skills as well as the ability to try new things
7. Have the physical ability to travel and implement various physical work related activities over a 141 acre campus. At times lifting and carrying is part of the job.
8. Be flexible to change as the greater need of the organization and fulfillment of what the mission statement requires by performing any duties as assigned
