Cost Accountant at Sportsman Boats Mfg. – Summerville, South Carolina

Sportsman Boats is looking for a Cost Accountant to join the Accounting team! This role will have responsibilities through the entire procure-to-pay process. This is a rare opportunity to gain experience with all facets of material workflow in a manufacturing organization. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, excited to collaborate across departments, and not afraid to get their hands dirty when needed!

What you will do:

• Accounts Payable Management:
  • Process vendor invoices through optical character recognition.
  • Work to move invoices through the approval workflow.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payments while maximizing cash discounts.
  • Review vendor account statements to address payment issues.
  • Assist in responding to audit requests.
• Credit Card Reconciliation:
  • Review and reconcile monthly credit card statements to the general ledger.
  • Maintain supporting documentation for all transactions.
• Inventory Management and Cost Analysis:
  • Work closely with the Warehouse Manager to resolve receiving issues.
  • Assist in periodic cycle counts, and year end physical inventory.
  • Calculate inventory reserve and analyze for opportunities to reduce slow moving or excess inventory.
  • Research issues related to bill of materials inaccuracies and provide suggestions to Engineering.

To be considered you must have:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must to succeed in this role.
  • Xlookups, pivot tables, and if statements are used regularly.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively.
