Contract Senior Consultant - Production Planning & Scheduling | Food Manufacturing
Synergetics | Remote + 100% Client Travel | 6-Month Contract
We're seeking an experienced Senior Supply Chain Consultant with deep expertise in S&OP and production scheduling to support a Manufacturing Operations System (MOS) implementation at a food manufacturing facility. This contract role requires hands-on experience designing and optimizing planning and scheduling processes in manufacturing environments.
The Project: Lead the planning and scheduling transformation workstream as part of a comprehensive MOS implementation. You'll redesign production planning processes, develop advanced scheduling methodologies, and integrate S&OP frameworks with shop floor execution. Your expertise will bridge strategic planning with daily operational execution.
What You'll Do:
• Design and implement production planning and scheduling processes within the new MOS platform
• Conduct comprehensive assessments of current state S&OP, demand planning, and master scheduling processes
• Develop future state planning frameworks that optimize capacity utilization, minimize changeovers, and improve on-time delivery
• Create integrated planning models that balance demand variability, production constraints, and inventory targets
• Design scheduling logic that accounts for food safety requirements, sanitation windows, shelf life constraints, and line changeover optimization
• Facilitate cross-functional planning meetings with sales, operations, procurement, and supply chain teams
• Develop planning KPIs, reporting dashboards, and performance metrics within the MOS system
• Train planners and schedulers on new processes, tools, and system functionality
• Support system configuration, testing, go-live, and stabilization activities
What You'll Bring:
• 7-10 years of supply chain experience with deep expertise in S&OP, production planning, and master scheduling
• Proven track record implementing or optimizing planning processes in manufacturing environments
• Food manufacturing experience strongly preferred - understanding of production scheduling complexities including recipe management, batch processes, co-packing, allergen controls, and regulatory requirements
• Strong analytical skills with ability to model capacity, optimize schedules, and perform scenario planning
• Experience with MOS, MES, ERP planning modules, or Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS) systems
• Expertise in demand forecasting, capacity analysis, materials planning, and inventory optimization
• Excellent facilitation and stakeholder management skills across sales, operations, and supply chain functions
• Proficiency with Excel, planning tools, and data analysis software
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field
• Willingness to travel 100% to client site (travel is client-driven)
Stand-Out Qualifications:
• APICS CPIM, CSCP, or similar supply chain certification
• Experience with specific planning platforms (SAP APO/IBP, Oracle ASCP, Kinaxis, o9, etc.)
• Background in CPG sectors: dairy, beverages, packaged foods, meat processing, or baking operations
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification
• Previous consulting or professional services experience
• Advanced degree (MBA, MS in Supply Chain Management)
Contract Details:
• Duration: 6 months (potential for extension)
• Competitive daily/hourly rate commensurate with experience
• Remote when not at client site; up to 100% travel required based on project needs
