Senior Staff Accountant

Location: Hybrid (most days in office in Southfield, MI with possibility for some remote days)

Reports To: Controller

Salary range $72 to 80k plus 10% bonus

YOUR MISSION

As the Senior Staff Accountant, you are responsible for executing accurate, timely, and disciplined general ledger accounting and reporting that ensures Brewtopia’s financial records are correct, complete, and reliable.

This role is not about basic bookkeeping — it’s about ownership. You ensure transactions are right the first time, deadlines are met without reminders, and finance never becomes a bottleneck to growth.

You are a force multiplier for the Controller. Your work enables the Controller to deliver clean closes, accurate and timely reporting, reliable cash visibility, and scalable finance operations.

What You’ll Do

Transaction Accuracy & Execution

• Record financial transactions with =99% accuracy
• Keen focus on stand level income statement accuracy
• Post journal entries on schedule without reminders
• Ensure zero material posting errors
• Identify and resolve discrepancies proactively
• Maintain clean, audit-ready general ledger records

You believe errors should be prevented — not fixed later.

Monthly Close Support

• Complete assigned close tasks by Business Day 7 of month-end
• Prepare and submit reconciliations that are accurate and complete on first review
• Flag and explain material variances proactively
• Ensure no missed dependencies delay the monthly close process

You understand that clean and timely closes start at the transaction level.

Accounting Execution Excellence

• Accounting reports, reconciliations, analyses, and processes are created and ran accurately and on time.
• Keen focus on stand level income statement accuracy
• No errors identified during controller review
• All general leger accounting is completed with accuracy, timeliness, and in alignment with US GAAP
• Brewtopia’s accounting is accurate and reliable

You are a force multiplier for the Controller

Cash, AP & AR Backup

(Results Driven | Solve Problems)

• Be a reliable backup for the AP Coordinator and Cash and Banking Coordinator roles to ensure coverage for planned and unplanned absences
• Be able to execute AP and Banking functions when needed
• Be an expert on both of these processes, being able to assist with problem solving when needed

You operate with urgency and precision because cash accuracy matters.

• Build and maintain accounting processes and systems that can smoothly scale to 200+ stands
• Utilize technological solutions and automation whenever possible – chase manual processes out of the business

Who You Are

• 5+ years of accounting experience (multi-unit, retail, QSR, or hospitality preferred)
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting systems
• Highly organized and deadline-driven
• Detail-oriented with a high standard for accuracy
• Proactive problem solver who takes ownership
• Able to operate independently without daily oversight
