JobSummary:
The Transmission Line Engineer designs, analyzes, and maintainshigh-voltage electrical infrastructure, including overhead and undergroundlines to ensure reliable power delivery.
JobDuties and Responsibilities:
• Lead and/or support the initialproject execution layout to ensure an efficient and effective project plan hasbeen established;
• Manage engineers, drafters, anddesigners on small to medium sized engineering projects and interface directlywith the client;
• Responsible for creating andmaintaining a project schedule and budget;
• Facilitate weekly or bi-weeklyproject meetings to clearly outline upcoming deliverables and tasks withresponsible personnel identified;
• Coordinate with clients onproject status and support project meetings as necessary;
• Maintain project workflow andthorough communication across multi-discipline projects, both internal andexternal to the company;
• Forecast upcoming projectrequirements to assist in resource planning;
• Facilitate and adhere to thecompany and the client's QA/QC procedure to ensure the correct personnel isperforming the required QA/QC review;
• Maintain project status reportsfor project managers;
• Provide weekly or bi-weeklyproject updates and project forecasting;
• Lead and/or support ProjectManager by meeting with clients, both in-person and remotely;
• Support resource forecastplanning for upcoming and current project loads;
• Provide business improvementmethodologies and procedures;
• Discuss project and/ordepartment personnel conflicts, performance issues, and collaborate on asuitable approach to constructively provide a successful resolution.
Qualifications(Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
Basicor Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in a closelyrelated discipline;
• Five (5) years of relevant post educationexperience in engineering discipline and prior civil design experience;
• Knowledge of civil engineering principles,practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and projectwork-related issues;
• Experience with infrastructure planning, design,and construction management; including rehabilitation and new design;
• Ability to coordinate with agency regulators andunderstand requirements;
• Knowledge with process and concepts for reducingand eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances/greenhouse gas;
• Knowledge of relevant civil construction laws,codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements;
• Availability and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously;
• Availability and ability to work overtime basedon project needs;
• Experience with discipline-specific designsoftware (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak,GeoSlope, ANSYS, STADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS).
PreferredQualifications
• Engineer In Training Certificate
• P.E. license
• Electric utility industry experience
• Experience managing projects and leadingmulti-disciplined teams
• Design experience up to 230 kV
• Distribution design experience
• At least 3-years of experience using POLE, TOWERand FAD Tools software packages
• At least 3 years of experience using PLS-CADD
• Transmission line routing
• Transmission foundation design
• Transmission structure load and design
• Cost estimating and scheduling
• Experience using L-Pile and Microsoft Projectsor Primavera (P6)
• 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training(HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred
WorkingConditions:
• Work is primarily conducted in an officeenvironment (Private or Semi-Private Office) but also requires occasionaltravel to off-site work locations;
• Field duties require outdoor work in aconstruction site type atmosphere;
• Interaction with other team members, as wellas supervisors and client personnel;
• Working on a construction site or in plantand/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels
• Must be able to wear safety equipment asrequired by the safety department for personal protection;
• May be at more than one job site in a day andmust be able to tolerate climate changes;
• May be required to travel out of town on aperiodic basis.
PhysicalRequirements (With or without Reasonable Accommodation):
• Must be able to lift and carry twenty (20)pounds;
• Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing orother communication capabilities which permits employee to communicateeffectively;
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time;
• Sufficient vision or other powers ofobservation which permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations;
• Sufficient manual dexterity which permit theemployee to perform routine office duties;
• Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexesto perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-site locations.
