The Hebron Schwebel Baking Company is seeking a qualified individual for our parts clerk position in our bakery.
Essential Job Functions
- Inventory management: Receive, inspect, label, and store incoming parts; update inventory records.
- Parts issuance: Pick, stage, and deliver parts for corrective and preventive maintenance; track parts usage against work orders.
- Cycle counts & reconciliation: Conduct routine cycle counts, reconcile discrepancies, and adjust reorder points/safety stock.
- Vendor coordination: Place non-stock orders, follow up on lead times, and manage returns/credits.
- Documentation & support: Maintain parts-room cleanliness, support shutdowns/turnarounds, and assist with spare-parts forecasting and reporting.
- Perform: other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
- Purchase and stock FDA rated lubricants.
- Purchase and stock acceptable material for equipment parts and replacement (i.e. stainless steel, UHMW, etc.).
- Segregation and cleanliness: Store parts to prevent contamination of food zones; use sealed bins and designated non-food-contact storage areas.
- Hygiene compliance: Follow GMPs, wear required PPE, and complete plant sanitation and hygiene training before entering production areas.
- Traceability: Label parts with lot/receipt dates and retain receiving records to support traceability during audits.
- Legality (Regulatory & Audit): Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate receiving logs, inventory adjustments, and purchase records to support regulatory inspections and internal audits.
- Controlled items: Track and restrict access to safety-critical or regulated parts (e.g., electrical, LOTO components) and document chain-of-custody for replacements.
- Quality: Inspection & acceptance: Verify part numbers, dimensions, and condition on receipt; quarantine and document nonconforming items.
- Supplier quality: Flag recurring defects to purchasing/engineering and support corrective actions and supplier returns.
- Follow GMP/food safety and lockout/tagout practices.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Computer skills: Proficiency with MS Office (Excel) and experience with a ____ or inventory system for receiving, issuing, and reconciling parts.
- Communication: Clear written and verbal communication for vendor coordination, purchase requests, and work‑order interaction
- Valid driver’s license if the role requires driving to vendor pickups (specify if required).
- Mobility: Frequent standing, walking across plant and parts room, bending, reaching, kneel, stoop, twisting, and climbing steps, step stools or ladders, and
- Lifting/carrying: Regular lifting of boxes and parts; specify a safe unassisted lift (e.g., up to 35 lb) and requirement to use mechanical aids (pallet jacks, forklifts if certified) for heavier loads.
- Equipment operation: Ability to operate pallet jacks; forklift certification preferred/required where applicable.
- Environment: Work in a bakery production area with temperature variation, dust/flour exposure, flashing lights, and noise; must comply with PPE and hygiene rules.
- Manual dexterity and vision: fine motor skills for small parts, and sufficient vision (with correction) to read part numbers and labels.
