Senior Buyer at Shippers Supply, Inc. – Golden Valley, Minnesota

1. Cost Negotiation: maximize gross margin by purchasing at lowest possible cost.
   1. Negotiate strategic purchasing plans with suppliers to obtain best cost and delivery terms.
   2. Negotiate transactional purchase orders day to day of Shippers Supply’s non-standard items.
   3. Lead procurement activities for assigned categories, ensuring alignment with company strategy.
   4. Mentor Buyer and Purchasing Assistant in best practices to obtain cost saving goals.
2. On Time Delivery: ensure timely receipt of requested product for our customers, including:
   1. Understand and mentor other team members to meet standard item fulfillment strategy.
   2. Work with vendors to ensure quick turnaround for rush orders
   3. Manage on-time delivery metric for vendors.
3. Vendor Compliance: drive vendor performance and follow up as needed.
   1. Organize and lead vendor meetings to review scorecards.
   2. Hold vendors accountable to meet our quality requirements.
   3. Collaborating with vendors and marketing on selection of our Standard items.
4. Project Management: Determining what to buy, how to acquire it, and defining the project-specific requirements.
   1. Sourcing new products.
   2. Work Cross Departmentally to achieve Project Goals.
   3. Review materials and sub-contracting work needed for Projec.t
5. Production Buying Requirements: Purchasing for Production activities.
   1. Enter and update product records with correct settings to maintain product flow.
   2. MRP maintenance and Replenish inventory.
6. Inventory Management: support optimal inventory levels.
   1. Review inventory turns to ensure inventory balance meets company goals.
   2. Manage returns of assigned categories.
   3. Collaborating with other departments to minimize aged inventory.
   4. Maintain replenishment levels from key vendors.

1. A minimum of 5+ years in a purchasing or buying role
2. High aptitude for working with numbers and analyzing data
3. 2-year or 4-year business degree
4. Experience with ERP/MRP systems
5. Knowledge of ISO and Lean Manufacturing Processes
6. Intermediate level computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)

Salary Transparency

The pay range for this position is $70,000-$85,000 per year. In addition, this role is eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance. Please note that the higher end of the pay range is reserved for candidates with extensive experience and qualifications that exceed the requirements of the role. Most new hires typically start at the beginning of the pay range, with opportunities for growth and increases based on performance and tenure.
