About This Position

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and dependable General Superintendent to support the Underground Department and oversee all field operations. This individual will be the PM’s right-hand—serving as the eyes and ears in the field, ensuring crews stay on track, work is performed safely and efficiently, and projects are progressing as planned. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in underground utility work, and the ability to travel from job to job across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee all underground crews, foremen, and daily field activities across multiple job sites.
  1. Serve as a direct extension of the Underground Department—reporting on progress, productivity, and field challenges.
  1. Monitor schedule, manpower, equipment, and materials to ensure jobs stay on track.
  1. Conduct regular jobsite visits to review work quality, safety compliance, and crew performance.
  1. Support Foremen and Leadmen in problem-solving, coordination, and decision-making.
  1. Enforce safety protocols and company standards on every project.
  1. Coordinate with Project Managers, Subcontractors, and Clients as needed to support field execution.
  1. Identify gaps or needs in labor, training, or resources and communicate them promptly.
  1. Help onboard new field personnel and mentor developing leaders.

Qualifications:
  1. 4+ years of experience in underground utility construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
  1. Strong leadership and communication skills.
  1. Ability to manage multiple crews and projects simultaneously.
  1. Deep knowledge of trenching, excavation, conduit installation, utility layouts, and field operations.
  1. Strong understanding of OSHA and underground safety standards.
  1. Ability to read and interpret underground electrical drawings, plans, and markups.
  1. Comfortable using a tablet or mobile device for daily reports, updates, and documentation.
  1. Valid driver's license; ability to travel daily between sites.
  1. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

  1. OSHA 30
  1. Competent Person
  1. Confined Space Entry
  1. Trenching & Excavation Safety
  1. First Aid / CPR / AED
