About This Position
Position Overview
The Banking Support Specialists provide exceptional client service, supporting our Banking Offices and Operations teams. This role supports both the Teller and Account functions within our Banking Offices, acting as a resource, providing advanced client servicing, operational expertise, and informal leadership support. This role is responsible for handling complex transactions, resolving escalations, and serving as a subject matter expert for banking office procedures, products, and systems. In addition, assistance is often needed across Operations teams and Banking Support Specialists step into various departments such as Credit Support, Deposit Operations, Client Service Center, etc.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Travel to The Bank of Tampa locations across the region (Hillsborough, Pinellas and Manatee counties) to provide coverage per business need.
- Deliver exceptional client service through professional, needs‑based interactions.
- Perform complex servicing transactions including account maintenance, problem resolution, and documentation support.
- Conduct client conversations to identify needs and provide appropriate solutions or referrals to business partners.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of banking products, services, systems, and procedures.
- Accurately perform routine banking transactions including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, payments, and basic account servicing.
- Balance individual cash drawer daily and adhere to all cash‑handling and dual‑control procedures.
- Verify client identity and ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for complex transactions, policies, systems, and procedures.
- Resolve escalated client issues and non‑routine servicing requests.
- Provide guidance to team members on account opening, complex maintenance, digital banking support, and referral best practices.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and informal mentoring to Banking Representatives and Banking Support Specialists.
- Assist with training, onboarding support, and knowledge sharing within the office.
- Support leadership in maintaining service standards, risk controls, and operational consistency.
- Exercise discretion and sound judgment in exception handling resolving routine client issues and determining appropriate escalation, within established authority.
- Support client retention through effective resolution of non‑routine issues and proactive problem‑solving.
- Assist the Service Assistant Manager with audit readiness by maintaining accurate documentation, supporting audit requests, and following established policies and procedures.
- Assist with oversight of service quality, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory standards during complex transactions.
- Maintain deep knowledge of banking products, services, and compliance requirements.
- Model professionalism, accountability, and leadership behaviors.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum one year experience as a teller or similar client‑facing banking role
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Will be required to travel to various office locations across Hillsborough, Pinellas and Manatee counties to cover shifts as needed.
- Demonstrated accuracy in cash handling and transaction processing.
- Working knowledge of banking products and systems.
- Ability to independently resolve routine client issues using judgment and established guidelines.
- Eligibility and willingness to obtain required registrations/licenses.
- High school diploma/GED
