About This Position
Job Title: Senior Accountant
Position Summary:
SunVena is looking for a highly motivated candidate for a Senior Accountant role. The position will report to the CFO and will be an integral member of the team focused on developing consistent processes. This person will contribute to the accuracy and integrity of the Company's financial accounting and reporting and will assist the CFO in setting guidelines for proper accounting of the Company's transactions under U.S. GAAP. The Accounting & Finance team works closely with the Company's senior management and must have very strong communication and presentation skills. The ideal candidate will be comfortable researching technical accounting issues and providing views on a broad range of accounting issues.
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for oversight of all accounting and reporting activities, supporting the preparation of financial information for presentations to the executive management, and working closely with the senior leadership team. The Senior Accountant will assist in leading all day-to-day accounting operations.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Prepares monthly journal entries, reconciles general ledger accounts monthly, and conducts necessary account analysis and research.
- Prepares balance sheet reconciliation accurately and timely.
- Lead Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable initiatives and processes including check run setup and regular, timely bill payments
- Reconciles bank statements monthly. Research questionable bank activities.
- Bills / reconciles inter-company accounts monthly and corrects variances.
- Maintains the prepaid expense accounting records, including allocating and posting monthly amortization/usage and prepaid expenses.
- Creates and distributes financial and managerial reports. Ensures that all information is accurate and that reports are distributed according to the predetermined schedule.
- Answers questions from associates and managers on matters relating to the general ledger and posted items.
- Maintains all records, files, and documentation for account transactions in accordance with company record keeping retention guidelines.
- Work with the CFO to implement and maintain a credit card management platform such as Expensify or Concur (TBD).
- Participate heavily in month-end close including balance sheet reconciliations as well as searching for efficiencies to continually shorten the number of business days required to finalize the financial books and records.
- Provides area expertise on group projects or company initiatives by serving as a committee member, or a team member for process improvement, department interfaces, or new business activity.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Thrives in a small team environment with moderate-to-low supervision; high regard for confidentiality; positive attitude.
- Excellent oral and communication skills; excellent time management and organizational skills; high level of attention to detail.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; 3-5 years’ experience in accounting showing progressive assignments and responsibilities.
- Strong Microsoft Office and Google Suite experience.
- Exposure to QuickBooks and/or other Windows-based major ERP systems.
- Experience in full-cycle month end close and analysis.
- Must demonstrate ability to analyze financials and offer solutions to management.
- Aptitude for learning new financial systems and interfaces.
- Ability to manage large datasets.
- Must be able to take direction and work well with others.
- Must be flexible and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

- Some Public and Private Company mix of work experience.
- Adaptive experience.
- Expensify system experience.
- Knowledge of database management and organization.
- Knowledge of accounting and financial analysis.
