The Director of Rittal Automation Systems (RAS) oversees the strategy, growth, and operational success of Rittal’s automation portfolio across North America. This leader is responsible for expanding market presence, accelerating customer adoption of automated panel-building solutions, and aligning RAS initiatives with the organization’s commercial strategy under the Vice President of Sales.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and execute the RAS business strategy to drive adoption, revenue, and long-term market growth.
  • Translate macro-level automation trends into actionable product and market initiatives.
  • Partner closely with the Vice President of Sales to ensure strategic alignment with global and regional commercial goals.
Commercial & Market Development
  • Strengthening relationships with customers, integrators, distributors, and industry partners.
  • Champion customer‑focused solution development to enhance RAS value proposition.
Operational Excellence
  • Ensure successful implementation, integration, and lifecycle support for RAS automation systems.
  • Work closely with Director of Service on installation quality, troubleshooting performance, and user training programs—reflecting established RAS field and application engineering practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement in product reliability, service processes, and cross-functional collaboration.
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Collaborate with teams across Rittal, including global partners on budgets, opportunity funnel, product quality and enhancements.
  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Service, Supply Chain, and digital engineering platforms to deliver unified automation solutions.
Team Development
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team of technical, commercial, and service professionals.
  • Create a culture of accountability, innovation, and customer focus.
Reporting Structure
This position reports directly to the Vice President of Sales and is expected to:
  • Provide regular updates on financial performance, customer insights, pipeline development, and competitive positioning.
  • Align product positioning, pricing, and forecasting with the Vice President’s commercial strategy.
  • Support enterprise-wide sales initiatives through automation-led growth programs.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years related experience.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams in a global manufacturing or industrial technology setting.
  • Experience using customer relationship management tools is preferred.
  • Moderate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and SAP R/3.
