Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and adaptable Manufacturing Technician, Advanced Casting Contractor to help establish and operate our additively enabled casting operations. In this role, you will be on the ground floor of integrating cutting-edge additive manufacturing with traditional foundry processes. Your primary focus will be operating and maintaining 3D ceramic printers to produce complex casting cores, preparing those cores for the casting process, and supporting the metal pouring and post-casting operations.
What You'll Do...
- Additive Manufacturing - Ceramic Cores
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot 3D ceramic printers to manufacture high-precision casting cores
- Manage raw materials, including the preparation, loading, and safe handling of ceramic powders
- Perform critical post-processing of printed cores, including cleaning, support removal, curing, and sintering operations
- Inspect printed cores for dimensional accuracy and structural integrity prior to the casting phase
- Casting Operations & Processing
- Prepare and assemble 3D-printed ceramic cores into molds/flasks for the metal casting process
- Support the melting and pouring of metal alloys, ensuring proper temperatures and techniques are used to interface with the ceramic cores
- Perform post-casting operations, including knockout, chemical leaching, or mechanical removal of the ceramic cores from the finished metal parts
- Inspect finished castings for surface finish, internal core removal, and basic defects
- Process Development & Maintenance
- Collaborate with the engineering team to help stand up the new production line, providing frontline feedback on equipment performance and process flow
- Assist in drafting and refining Standard Operating Procedures for the new additive casting workflow
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and calibration on both 3D printing equipment and casting machinery
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, strictly adhering to PPE and safety protocols for both chemical handling and thermal hazards
You have...
- High school diploma or equivalent (an associate’s degree or trade certification in manufacturing, materials science, or a related field is a plus)
- Experience in a manufacturing, foundry, or industrial environment
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and comfort working with complex industrial machinery
- Ability to strictly follow safety protocols regarding high temperatures, heavy lifting, and hazardous materials
- Strong attention to detail, specifically for inspecting complex internal geometries and fragile ceramic components
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. Citizenship is required, as only U.S. Citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Nice to have...
- Direct experience operating industrial 3D printers
- Prior experience in traditional investment casting, sand casting, or working with ceramics
- Experience with CAD software or viewing 3D models
- A proactive mindset suited for a startup environment within the company; comfortable troubleshooting new processes and adapting to changing daily workflows
Physical Requirements
- Remain in a standing or sitting stationary position for 5-6 hours per day (1-2 hours at one time)

- Effectively communicate in person and via telephone or other electronic devices
