Doppelmayr USA is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Salt Lake City, Utah. The ideal candidate will maintain a professional attitude and demeanor while working with customers, colleagues, and authorities. Your Key Responsibilities
- Develop mechanical and electromechanical components and assemblies independently or as part of a team.
- Perform mechanical engineering tasks for routine and complex projects, including structural steel design, sheet metal design, industrial machinery layout, component specification, failure analysis, and creation of 2D engineering drawings.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure designs meet internal standards and customer requirements.
- Create and manage 3D CAD models, assemblies, and drawings.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant government regulations, codes, and standards (e.g., ANSI B77.1, Z98).
- Support civil, structural, project, and ropeway engineering activities as required.
- Utilize customer requirements, manufacturing and assembly methods, testing, and operator feedback to improve new and existing designs.
- Follow internal design regulations and standards to promote consistency across global subsidiaries.
- Support company and departmental quality objectives.
- Develop testing methods and verify product/system capabilities, including fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
- Provide additional support to the Sales, Project Management, and Customer Service teams when needed.
- Mentor and train other team members to ensure successful project delivery.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, professional publications, networking, and participation in industry organizations.
- Represent the engineering department in management meetings when required.
- Maintain professionalism in all communications with customers, suppliers, regulatory authorities, and domestic and international colleagues.
- Work productively at heights and in mountainous environments during all seasons.
- Travel up to 20%, with concentrated travel during specific project phases.
- Adapt to varying schedules, manage competing priorities, and perform effectively in a sometimes high‑pressure environment.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification (passed or scheduled NCEES FE exam).
- 0–3 years of experience in mechanical engineering or a closely related field.
- Experience in 3D CAD design, including modeling, assembly work, and drawing creation.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to engineering standards and quality processes.
- Professional communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work outdoors at heights and in varying environmental conditions.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% and adjust to changing business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mechanical PE license.
- Experience with Siemens NX 3D CAD software.
- Experience with NX FEM simulation.
- Strong 2D drafting skills including welding symbols, dimensioning, GD&T, and standard drafting practices.
- Proficiency in specifying structural materials for machined, welded, or fastened parts.
- Familiarity with hydraulic systems.
- Leadership and/or project management experience.
- German or French language skills.
- Experience in ski lift construction or maintenance.
