Position Overview
The Head of Infrastructure is a senior technology leader responsible for the strategy, reliability, security, and operational excellence of HDI's infrastructure ecosystem. This role overseesAzure cloud management, Managed Service Provider (MSP) governance, enduser workplace services, office network, print services and service desk operations, ensuring high availability, performance, and cost efficiency across the enterprise. In this role, the position will work with local business & IT, and home office IT stakeholders.

The ideal candidate combines deep Azure cloud architecture expertise with strong operational leadership, vendor management capability, and a customer centric mindset suited to a regulated insurance environment. The role will collaborate closely with Application, Security, Data, Architecture and IT Governance leaders to support run, grow and transform initiatives (e.g., Internal & regulatory audits, Guidewire PAS, AI platforms).
Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Cloud Strategy
  • Own and execute HDI's infrastructure and cloud strategy, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure.
  • Ensure infrastructure architecture aligns with enterprise architecture, security standards, and business resiliency requirements.
  • Partner with Information Security to ensure infrastructure complies with regulatory, audit, and risk requirements.

Azure Cloud Management
Lead day to day Azure operations, including:
  • Subscription and tenant governance
  • Networking, compute, storage, and PaaS services
  • Identity and access management (Entra ID / Azure AD)
  • Backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity
    • Implement FinOps practices to optimize cloud spend and improve transparency.
    • Drive automation and infrastructureascode (e.g., Bicep, Terraform) where appropriate.
    • Managed Service Provider (MSP) Governance
  • Own the MSP operating model, including scope definition, SLAs, OLAs, KPIs, and escalation processes.
  • Hold MSP partners accountable for:
    • Infrastructure operations and support
    • Incident, problem, and change management
    • patching and compliance
    • Lead vendor performance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Ensure a clear RACI between HDI internal teams and service providers.

Workplace & EndUser Services
Oversee digital workplace services, including:
  • Endpoint management
  • Collaboration platforms (Microsoft 365)
  • Identity and access for end users
  • Ensure consistent, secure, and high quality employee experience.
  • Partner with HR, Security, and Business leaders to support employee productivity and mobility.

Service Desk Operations
  • Lead IT Service Desk operations, ensuring timely and effective support for end users.
  • Drive ITIL aligned processes including incident, request, problem, and change management.
  • Use service metrics and customer feedback to continuously improve service quality and satisfaction.
  • Ensure service desk integrates seamlessly with MSP and internal infrastructure teams.

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build and lead a highperforming infrastructure and operations team.
  • Serve as an escalation point for critical incidents and major outages.
  • Communicate health infrastructure, risks, and roadmap clearly to executive leadership.


Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure and operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing enterprise scale Azure environments.
  • Demonstrated success leading MSP based operating models.
  • Experience in financial services or insurance is strongly preferred.

Technical Skills
  • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Azure:
  • Knowlege of endpoint and workplace technologies
  • Disaster recovery and high availability architectures
  • Monitoring, logging and observability standards for cloud operations
  • Working knowledge of automation and InfrastructureasCode practices.

Certifications (Required / Strongly Preferred)
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (Required)

One or more of the following preferred:
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer
  • ITIL Foundation or higher
  • Cloud FinOps Practitioner

Compensation and Benefits
Base salary range for this position is 160k-190k, plus eligibility for a performance-based annual bonus. Actual compensation will be based on a variety of factors including experience, education, and location.
