Position Description: Vighter is recruiting multiple Registered Nurses (RN) with any specialty to provide Float RN and patient care support at the Salt Lake City, UT VA Healthcare System. The Salt Lake City VA Center is rated as a complex medical facility, therefore provides care to Veterans locally and from surrounding states. RNs are responsible to ensure the safety and well-being of all care provided to patients in the facility including proper time out, consent, credentialed staff available, body positioning, documentation of implants or surgical hardware, medication administration, ensuring necessary supply /equipment availability, etc.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Registered Nurse: Includes Primary care, ENT, cardiology, plastics, neurology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, ortho-spine, pain management, podiatry, urology, vascular, dental, emergency, ICU, Psychiatric, Substance Abuse, acute care, long term care, gynecology, and hybrid cath lab.
  • Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures and assist with procedures as necessary.
  • Provide post-procedure and post-operative recovery care and verifies the content and correctness of all recorded entries in the patient record.
  • Complete and appropriate medical record forms in compliance with VA guidelines and policies on each patient.
  • Is capable of providing comprehensive nursing care for adult medical patients.
  • Assists other staff in discharging patients as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must have exceptional customer service skills.
  • Must be proficient in English (read/write/speak).
  • Has no health or physical disability restrictions that interfere with performance of assigned duties.
  • Has all credentials and certifications as required for the Registered Nurse position.
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Education:

  • Holds a diploma, Associate of Science degree from an NLN accredited university and holds a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in any State.
  • Has and maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certifications.
  • Has been practicing actively as an RN in an acute or long-term setting for at least the last two years.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand or sit for more than 8 hours per day.
  • Must be willing to work overtime if necessary.
  • Must be able to use an elevator or walk up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and carry up to 10 feet.
  • Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders.
  • Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to perform duties in an indoor or outdoor environment.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation.
  • Must undergo urine drug screening (UDS).
