WAGE: $18.00- $23.00 Hourly, Non-Exempt
WORK HOURS: Full-time, Variable
ABOUT THE POSITION
The Extrusion Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate operation of extrusion lines to produce high-quality plastic sheet products that meet or exceed customer expectations. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality standards. The operator plays a key part in maintaining production schedules, troubleshooting process issues, and ensuring compliance with established procedures.
JOB FUNCTION/PURPOSE:
The Extrusion Operator ensures the safe and efficient operation of extrusion lines to produce high-quality plastic sheet products. This role is focused on meeting production schedules, maintaining quality standards, troubleshooting process issues, and supporting continuous improvement while upholding all safety and compliance requirements.
ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow all start up and shut down procedures
- Run to specific set up
- Verify all customer and product requirements
- Complete all quality checks online and in lab based on product
- Control energy using LOTO procedures for all equipment
- Proficient at Blender use and all troubleshooting
- Keep vacuum filters for extrusion line and blenders clean
- Follow resin control plan at all times
- Understand and maintain the vent systems for the line
- Solve and troubleshoot lines
- Follow line schedule at all times
- Review and revise JSAs for the line
- Manage the line/accountability/train others
- Extrusion line process, instrumentation function and understanding
- Ability to solve or assist in troubleshooting for process issues beyond quality
- Submit new process set up
- Utilize regrind effectively
- Understanding operation of process and equipment trending
- Clean and change co-ex block inserts
- Ability to troubleshoot all extrusion related items
- Support TPM
- Makes quality decisions
- Provide detail to engineering/maintenance on issues
- Make recommendations on the line improvements
- Proficiency online quality equipment
- Submit required JSBOs
- Report any incident or injury
- Participate in processes to improve efficiencies
- Engage in removing waste from all portions of the business (motion, paperwork, processes)
- All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must have High School diploma or GED
- Must have High School math and measurement skills
- Manufacturing experience a plus
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts in a routine schedule including Saturdays and Sundays
- Willingness to work overtime when necessary or required
