KLC Licensed Practical Nurse Applicant

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • The Licensed Practical Nurse Applicant shall practice under direct supervision by a LPN, RN or APRN. Provides direct care, administers treatments and medications, organizes and distributes daily assignments to direct care staff consistent with staff competency and each individual resident’s comprehensive resident assessment and plan of care.

  • DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
      • Makes daily rounds on assigned unit at least at beginning and end of shift to observe, examine or interview residents, to verify information from ongoing shift, to monitor regulatory compliance and to determine staff assignments.

      • Directs daily assignments and evaluates the work of other caregivers, i.e. CNA’s, CMT’s, Restorative Nursing Assistants, Preceptor Nursing Assistants, etc. Using independent judgment makes recommendations including, but not limited to the care of residents, discipline, discharge, promotion regarding CNA’s, CMT’s, Restorative Nursing Assistants and Preceptor Nursing Assistants.

      • Makes daily rounds on assigned unit at least at beginning and end of shift to observe, examine or interview residents, to verify information from ongoing shift, to monitor regulatory compliance and to determine staff assignments.

  • EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    • Minimum requirement:
      • Minimum or a high school diploma or equivalent.
      • Minimum graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current and active provisional license as a Licensed Practical Nurse Applicant (LPNA) in the state of KY required.
    • Preferred qualifications:
      • One year experience providing direct care to residents in long-term care setting .
  • WORKING ENVIRONEMENT

This job cannot be performed without exposure to the stresses associated with an intimate, 24 hour residential care environment that delivers care and services primarily to disabled and cognitively impaired residents. Examples of these stresses include, but are not limited to: shift rotation, weekend and holiday duty, unusual or impaired behavior by residents, family reactions to having a loved one in the nursing home, death, and dying, oversight of state surveyors, ombudsmen and federal officials, presence of consultants and attorneys, and variable involvement of medical staff. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Occasional physical effort with light to medium objects. Occasionally required to lift objects of 10 to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
