A Packaging “Lead” Operator is a well-organized individual who is responsible for overseeing the packaging lines and ensuring that all products being packaged meet or exceed the expectations of our customers while also adhering to food safety, quality and GMP guidelines as well as plant rules set forth by the company.

A Day in the Life | Responsibilities We Trust You With:

• Responsibilities of a Packaging Operator can include but are not limited to:
• Completing all paperwork for the product to be packaged
• Organizational communication in a professional manner
• Start-up/shut down of packaging line ensuring that all customer demands are met for the specific material that is being packaged.
• Provide break relief for label operator and packaging worker(s)
• Stand and bend/twist frequently for 8 or more hours a day
• Preform packaging changes without shutting down the line and ensure that all container codes and packaging material are correct and adheres to customer expectations
• Make sure all packaging paperwork at the end of a batch is accounted for and filled out correctly.

What You Must Know | Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Forklift License (provided by employer)

Your Working Relationships | Leadership:

As a Packaging “Lead” Operator you will always be working in a team environment. Departments actively involved with the Packaging Operator are Label Operator, Packaging Worker, Fresco Operator, QCC, Canning Room Operator and Forklift Operator. The Packaging Operator must be able to communicate professionally with all departments. They will oversee the breaks of the Label Operator and Packaging Workers while being given breaks when working the line alone. They will need to be able to communicate with management in an open and timely manner with any issues that may arise on the packaging line.

Your Work Environment | Working Conditions and Safety Considerations:

• Stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–12 hours per shift).
• Frequently bend, stoop, twist, and reach overhead.
• Lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Perform repetitive motions with hands, wrists, and arms.
• Operate machinery and tools requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity.
• Tolerate exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and noise levels in a production environment.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection
