Fleet ManagerDuties and Responsibilities

Direct Manager to 25-35 drivers, combination of OTR, Local, & ShuttleCommunicate load assignments to drivers as far in advance as possibleMaintain acceptable driver retention levels within your assigned fleetProactively maximize drivers available time on a daily basisAccurately update TMW with drivers ETA and actual arrival timesProactively communicate with Customer Reps on several aspects:DetentionLate ArrivalsEarly ArrivalsAvailable CapacityLumpersStop offsDriver AssistReward and Discipline drivers as neededCoordinate on maintenance issues with the maintenance departmentMonitor cost metrics affected by drivers and counsel/coach them if those metrics are outside of acceptable levels, these are:Fuel PurchasesIdlingTollsOut of Route MilesSchedule Equipment Maintenance

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively with Supervisor and other associates both orally and in writing.Ability to take job orders from Supervisor.Ability to get along well with others in organization.Ability to establish priorities, work independently, solve problems, and proceed with objectives without supervision.Participate in corrective and preventative actions and continuous improvement projects.Basic data entry and/or word processing skills.Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating system.Skill in the use of common office machinery.Attention to detailMust be willing to work nights, weekends, and on-call
