Position SummaryThe Director of Development is a senior leader responsible for architecting and executing a comprehensive, multi-year fundraising strategy that fuels sustainable growth and expands impact. This leader will oversee all revenue streams, including major gifts, individual giving, corporate partnerships, foundations, campaigns, and events, while building high-performing systems and leading a strong development team.

The ideal candidate is both a relationship builder and a strategist: someone who inspires generosity, drives measurable results, and partners closely with executive leadership and the Board to scale impact.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is passionate about mission-driven, faith-informed work and brings 7–10+ years of progressive fundraising leadership experience. They have a proven track record managing $5M+ revenue portfolios, with demonstrated success in major gift cultivation and strategic relationship-building. This leader has experience partnering closely with executive leadership and boards to advance fundraising goals and is operationally disciplined, with strong CRM expertise, preferably in Salesforce.

Key ResponsibilitiesFundraising Strategy & Revenue LeadershipDevelop and implement a multi-year fundraising strategy aligned with organizational priorities

Own annual fundraising revenue goals and performance metrics

Partner with the Executive Director on high-capacity donor cultivation

Build and manage a major gifts portfolio

Lead moves management strategy

Corporate & Foundation RelationsLead corporate sponsorship and cause-marketing initiatives

Support grant strategy in partnership with the grants team

Cultivate long-term institutional partnerships

Events & CampaignsProvide strategic oversight of signature fundraising events

Ensure events align with overall development strategy and ROI goals

Collaborate cross-functionally to maximize engagement

Board & Volunteer EngagementServe as strategic fundraising partner to the Board of Directors

Coach and equip board members to meet fundraising expectations

Engage advisory groups and volunteers to expand reach

Team Leadership & OperationsLead and develop a high-performing development team

Establish strong systems, processes, and reporting structures

Ensure data integrity and donor tracking in Salesforce

Manage the development budget with stewardship and discipline

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree required; specialization in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or Marketing strongly preferred

5–10+ years of progressive nonprofit fundraising experience required

Demonstrated success managing multi-million-dollar fundraising portfolios required

Proven experience securing major gifts (six figures and above) required

Strong understanding of donor psychology, stewardship, and relationship management required

Experience working closely with executive leadership and boards

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills required

Experience in human services, anti-trafficking, or mission-driven social impact organizations strongly preferred

Grant writing and institutional fundraising experience preferred

Salesforce administration experience (3–5 years) required

CFRE or advanced fundraising certification strongly preferred

Position Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successfully completing pre-employment background checks, including criminal history, fingerprinting, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to ongoing compliance with these checks.

Possession of a valid driver’s license is required and must be maintained throughout employment.

Documentation of references (at least two professional and one personal) that attest to the person’s capability of performing the duties of the position and to the person’s suitability of working with or around children and vulnerable populations.

Working Conditions

Ability to lift objects up to 25 pounds and work for long periods at a computer

Moderate local travel required related to program and training needs, as well as occasional travel beyond the metro Atlanta area
