The TerraPower Isotopes (TPI) division has been established to pursue medical isotopes development--advancing nuclear science for significant human health benefits. We seek to support revolutionary radiotherapies for treatments of various cancers through the supply of radioisotopes. TerraPower currently has unique access to a supply of thorium for the long-term production of actinium-225 in the growing alpha therapy market and intends to expand into other nuclear related medical treatments.

TPI Radioisotopes Manufacturing Manager

TerraPower Isotopes is seeking a Radioisotopes Manufacturing Manager to lead all aspects of actinium 225 manufacturing as an API starting material precursor for targeted radiopharmaceutical therapies. This role provides full operational leadership for day to day production activities in GMP aligned hot cell and glovebox operations, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient manufacturing performance.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical acumen, sound judgment, and proven leadership in regulated nuclear, radiopharmaceutical, or chemical manufacturing environments. Success in this role requires effective communication, cross functional collaboration, and a commitment to operational excellence, radiological safety, and product quality.

Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Own end to end manufacturing performance, including production planning, throughput, yield, and resource allocation.
  • Lead day to day operations within hot cell and glovebox environments while ensuring compliance with all GMP, radiological, and safety requirements.
  • Oversee execution, review, and continuous improvement of production processes, batch documentation, and data integrity practices.
  • Drive troubleshooting and technical issue resolution in coordination with radiochemists, engineers, radiation safety, quality, and industrial safety.
  • Ensure operations comply with FDA expectations for API starting material production, NRC and DOT radioactive material requirements, and applicable state and OSHA regulations.
  • Partner closely with Quality on deviations, CAPAs, nonconformances, change controls, and internal/external audits.
  • Maintain validated processes and equipment, ensuring changes follow approved validation and change control pathways.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop operations personnel, including performance management, technical training, and qualification programs.
  • Build and scale a multi shift operations team as production increases.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Cross Functional Coordination

  • Coordinate with the Everett Laboratory (EVL) Manager to align manufacturing needs with other project and facility activities.
  • Work with Maintenance Engineering and Facility Maintenance to plan outages, maintain equipment readiness, and support maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with Logistics to maintain adequate inventories of consumables, chemicals, and production-support materials.
  • Partner with Radiation Safety and Health Physics to manage radiological work planning, radioactive materials inventory, contamination control, and waste handling.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelors degree in chemical engineering, radiochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or related laboratory or engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience working with radioactive materials under an established radiation protection program; alphaemitter experience preferred.
  • Minimum 35 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (radiopharmaceutical, nuclear pharmacy, GMP chemical manufacturing, or comparable field).
  • Strong working knowledge of FDA regulations for pharmaceutical/API starting materials, NRC and DOT regulations for radioactive materials, and applicable state health and OSHA requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, manage priorities, and coordinate crossfunctional work in a highhazard environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Military experience is a plus.

Salary Range L13: $196,537 - $294,806

Salary Range L12: $168,316 - $252,475 *Typically, our employee salaries are within .90 *We typically place offers in the lower to middle portion of the range to maintain internal equity and allow room for growth. Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individuals qualifications experience. This range is specific to Washington State
