This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Sr Director, Field Medical Lead (Obesity and Metabolic Programs) in United States.
This is a senior field-based medical leadership role responsible for shaping and executing the external scientific engagement strategy within the obesity and metabolic disease therapeutic area. The position plays a critical role in connecting clinical science with real-world healthcare ecosystems by engaging key opinion leaders, investigators, and healthcare professionals. Acting as a strategic extension of the Medical Affairs organization, the role drives insight generation, supports clinical development, and ensures strong scientific exchange across the external community. The leader will also help build and scale the Field Medical function, defining team structure, capabilities, and best practices. This is a highly visible role with significant influence on clinical strategy, evidence generation, and stakeholder engagement in a fast-evolving therapeutic landscape.
- Develop and execute the Field Medical strategy aligned with global Medical Affairs objectives for obesity and metabolic programs.
- Build, lead, and scale the Field Medical organization, including team structure, hiring, capability development, and operational excellence.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, investigators, academic institutions, and healthcare professionals.
- Lead scientific exchange activities, presenting and discussing clinical and translational data in obesity and metabolic disease areas.
- Gather, synthesize, and translate field insights into actionable strategies supporting clinical development and lifecycle planning.
- Support investigator-initiated studies and real-world evidence generation activities to advance scientific understanding and pipeline development.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Regulatory, Commercial, Legal, and Market Access teams.
- Represent the organization at scientific congresses and external medical forums to support thought leadership and data dissemination.
- Contribute to clinical trial design and execution through investigator engagement and insight generation.
- Ensure all field medical activities comply with applicable regulatory, ethical, and compliance standards.
- Advanced scientific or medical degree required (MD, PharmD, or PhD in a relevant field).
- 10+ years of experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry, with strong focus on metabolic diseases.
- Proven experience in Field Medical roles such as Senior MSL or Field Medical Director/Lead.
- Strong expertise in obesity, type 2 diabetes, or incretin-based therapies strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and influence key opinion leaders and external scientific stakeholders.
- Strong leadership experience, including building or managing field medical teams.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and scientific storytelling skills.
- Strategic mindset with strong execution capabilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to translate complex clinical data into clear, actionable insights.
- Experience collaborating effectively across clinical, commercial, and regulatory functions.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% for external engagement and conferences.
- Competitive compensation package with base salary range of $260,000–$365,000.
