Position Title: Program Manager

Akumen, Inc. seeks a dynamic, self-motivated Program Manager with experience leading IT project teams. Your expertise will facilitate the execution of cloud-based projects by evaluating project feasibility; establishing, developing, implementing, and controlling project plans; supporting operations; and analyzing project results.

Familiarity overseeing IT-related projects within the federal government, as well as eight or more years of project-related experience, is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish IT program plans by determining project objectives, technical approach, and schedules.
  • Coordinate and lead project team meetings with technical staff and key stakeholders.
  • Manage IT program contracts, including working with subcontractors on financial, contract, and staffing issues.
  • Support the clients overarching mission by working with client stakeholders and other contractors to drive forward the mission and goals of the client.
  • Manage IT program financial objectives by monitoring and controlling program budget and expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Manage a medium-to-large staff consisting of high-performing individuals across multiple IT disciplines, including hiring, scheduling, and other personnel-related matters.
  • Prepare program status reports and presentations by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provide hands-on support to the CIO, DCIO and COR.
  • Work with Deputy Program Manager and Team Leads to manage the day-to-day work supporting the ServiceNow and Azure platforms.
  • Ensure that IT projects and enhancements are aligned with organizational strategies and plans.
  • Manage the control and reporting of changes, issues and risks. Communicate essential information to IT staff as well as client stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • PMP and/or PgMP Certification.
  • 8+ years of recent experience in government software/IT project management.
  • Shows initiative, presents ideas to overcome challenges, self-starter.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
  • Ample experience with all phases of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile (Scrum).
  • Experience with software development, project management and collaboration tools.
  • Experience working with and managing medium-to-large IT teams.
  • Experience with ServiceNow custom-scoped application development.
  • Experience with Azure Cloud application development.
  • Previous IT experience supporting DOD, IC and/or DOS

Preferred Skills

  • Strong Leadership and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Clearance Requirement

  • Must have an Active DOD Secret clearance or higher
