This role provides a strategic opportunity to combine technical expertise with customer-facing sales support within a fast-growing software and data management environment. The Channel Sales Engineer will serve as a trusted advisor to both internal sales teams and external clients, translating business needs into technical solutions that drive revenue and operational efficiency. You will lead pre-sales activities including demos, proof-of-concepts, and solution design while guiding decision-makers at all levels. This position requires strong collaboration with cross-functional teams, mentoring peers, and providing technical leadership in high-value accounts. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, remote-first environment, balancing technical depth with business acumen to influence outcomes and enhance customer success. The role includes substantial travel and the ability to operate independently in a distributed team.
- Collaborate with account teams to develop territory plans, account strategies, and sales plans while engaging technical specialists as needed
- Serve as a technical advisor to customers and internal teams, building relationships with decision-makers across C-suite, IT, and partner organizations
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions, coordinating demos, pilots, and proof-of-concepts
- Drive pre-sales discovery, solution architecture, and technical validation to support sales opportunities
- Provide enablement, guidance, and mentorship to channel partners and internal sales teams
- Maintain technical and market expertise through continuous learning, certifications, and participation in conferences
- Document key insights, customer feedback, and opportunity progress in CRM systems to inform strategic planning
Requirements:
- 5+ years in software, storage, or IT industry; 3+ years in a pre-sales or sales engineer role
- Experience delivering solutions to enterprise or commercial clients, including proof-of-concept and solution architecture
- Strong technical knowledge of software, cloud, storage, networking, hypervisors, and enterprise applications (SAP, Oracle, Exchange, SharePoint, etc.)
- Consultative selling skills with a focus on business and technical value, TCO modeling, and competitive analysis
- Familiarity with sales methodologies (MEDDIC, SPIN, Solution Selling, Challenger, etc.)
- Proven ability to work remotely, autonomously, and manage multiple high-priority accounts
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field preferred
- Willingness to travel up to 50% and engage in a fast-paced, evolving sales environment
